Question: What color should my gauges light up?
Title: Looking at some of panther37's gauge faces but torn on the color!

I've talked to Panther37 about having him make me some indiglo gauge faces (like the has listed in the vendor section). Since I have Automter Phantom gauges in the car, I'm gonna have him make these faces look like Phantoms. However, I can't decide what color I want. Right now I either want white face that light up green (like the Autometer Lunar gauges) or white that light up blue (like the C2 gauges). Which should I get? I currently have reverse indiglos that are blue, and admittedly the blue has kind of a glare to it sometimes (I always figured there had to be a reason so many factory cars used green lighting in the instrument cluster). I like how the blue looks, but most of the other stuff in the center console still lights up green. Opinions?

well what do you have in the car already for the color gages? if nothing but stock then id go with something that would compliment your interior.

I said I have reverse indiglos...which mostly light up blue (aside from some red marks on the gauges), and I have blue bulbs in my autometer gauges. I'm planning on switching to LED's on all the small gauges, so I could go green or blue there.

I voted blue just because you dont see much blue in guages,  I think it would look better blue

Can't do red...tried that once, unfortunately the orange needles on the gauges kinda disapper with red lighting.

Ok so a week or so ago I ordered a couple blue 194 LED's off ebay just to try them in my gauges and see how they look (because they were super cheap). Well, check this out:

I realize that isn't the best picture, but that's hawt! The gauge on the right, obviously, has the LED in it. It's brighter & bluer than the blue bulb on the left and makes the gauge look 10 times better.

Based on how shagy the gauges look with the blue LED's in them, I'm leaning in that direction myself now...

Paint your needles black.

I'd prefer to not take apart my gauges.

Blue. Now you just need to figure out how to change the remaining green instruments to blue and relay that info. :D

Define "instruments?"

I actually found last night, through a little fiddling around, if you stick a blue LED in the climate control unit, it will turn the lettering and numbers a much more bluish color. The odd thing though was that the "cold" part of the slide (where you select between cold and hot temp settings) was brighter than everything else when the LED was in there. :dunno: Haven't tried the system sentry.

Probably gonna pull the headlight switch off today and see if there's a chance I can switch that bulb out too.
