Hi Folks,
I was going thru some of my old plastic model boxes, my 9 yr old son gave me an 06' Mustang GT for christmas, and I came across a model that I had pretty much had given up on ever finding again. It's Yarburough's 1985' Hardee's #28 Thunderbird Nascar. It's a larger scale one. This has sent me on a mission to find the Kyle Petty #7 7/11 Thunderbird that I had started but never finished. I also had the smaller scale versions of Bill Elliot's #9 and the #15 Levi's Bird. I believe that those have been lost for good though :(
Has anyone seen any of these model kits lately????
Yup. There all over eBay for $3 to $30 depending on which one. The 87/88 NASCARS were just released in 2001 and are still in production. There's 2 different "2 packs" of them. Model Empire also sells them without decals and of course there's about a dozen companies that make decals for almost all of the drivers back then. The 83-86 Birds were re-released in 2003 and some can still be found in the hobby stores. Again, Model Empire offers them without decals.
Good find, but there are still a TON available, even new, so don't beat yourself up over it if it's missing parts or busted. Just go buy another one. ;)
I probably have one of the "kits" floating around from the pair.... I'm not going to need it.
I've looked thru the local habby stores around Chicago and no one seems to have any of kits. Most of them don't want to even try to look for them either.
Thanks, I'll look on line and see what I can find. My wife says that I'm a little obsessed with these cars being real or plastic models ;)
If I still have the one you can have it.
Check out Hobby Heaven, I used to order a lot of kits from them back in the day. They have all kinds of old/obsolete/out of production kits.
what about the hooters car? alan kulwilke,i know i spelled that last name wrong.sorry! i have a NAPA diecast car from the early 90's
limited edition. Worth anything ya think, being dead and all?
No. It's probably worthless. 99% of NAS is. The Bill Elliot "Million Dollar" model routinely sells for $3 on eBay sealed in the box. The rarest Dale Earnhardt model (81 Wrangler TBird) sells for around $30. Alan Kulwici stuff has been worthless forever, just like Davey Allison, Kenny Irwin, bla bla bla bla.
In fact, the only "dead driver" to ever command a premium in the model community is Lee Shepard from the Reher-Morrison NHRA Pro-Stock team.
and he just died recently Right???????
cool you drive a torrid red GTO. I work at a GM dealer and those cars are fun to drive.First I drove them new as a lot attendent
and then worked on them in the service area when i became a tech.
Does yours have enough miles on it to eat up the front tires,We had a prob with the caster/camber on them when they were new. the rear tire wear speaks for its self (if you know what i mean)lol
The 81 coin bank t-birds were going for over $100 US A little while ago. The prices seem to really go up and down alot.
Scott
I realize that not everybody is into Nascar. I'm more interested in the 83' - 86' Birds that ran. I looked on ebay and found a few kits. 1 of which I have, but I'm going to try and get it anyway.
Thanks guys for the replies, both good and sarcastic.
Hobby Heaven and Model Empire were both showing new 83-86 kits in stock as of last night. Slixx makes the decals for just about all of the drivers.Sometimes you get lucky and Revell-Monogram will direct sell to you. Their selling the 87TC models right now for $11.95 each.
These are a few of my die cast cars 85 T-Bird (the car bill won the million in) and 88 T-bird he won his championship in.
