will a tfi dist. work regardless of application ie take a dist from a ranger and put it on my tbird. would that work or am i missin something? please help me.
Generally, no. You need a distributor with the same number of cylinders for sure, but you also need one from the same engine family. Not sure about the TFI module, though - that may be universal
so have to find a 3.8 with a tb injection? does it have to be out of a tbird or can i use one that i may find out of like a taurus, sable cougar etc.?
what engine / year do you have? is yours broken? there are only two parts on it unless you broke the housing ect.
whats the problem?
87 with a 3.8, no the sensor in the dist has gone bad i think there is a bad sensor, no power going out of it
go to the diy link in my sig and the info is in there to troubleshoot and make sure
you still did not tell us what your problem is so here goes
do you have spark out of the coil and out of any given spark plug wire on the plug end?
is the spark very blue?
do you see fuel sperting as you crank?
go to that link and do some reading. it will bring you up to speed rather quickly on your engine.
there is no power going out of the dist. no spark is going into the plugs. fuels spurts as the motor cranks over but otherwise im not gettin anything.
I'd just replace the TFI module and PIP and call it a day.
To me, JY TFIs are a ticking timebomb waiting to strand you in the middle of nowhere on a cold rainy day.
thats the funny part is the tfi tested good when i pulled it and tested it and whats the PIP.

k read the diy you gave me is there any way to pull that stator with out taking the dist out of the motor?
ok pulled and replaced the stator and now the sob wont even turn over, also replaced the starter relay on the sidewall and it clicks when you turn the key on it. but otherwise doesnt do anything, my fiancee is starting to piss me off with this and its frustrating the hell out of me anyone wanna save a car from the fire should help me and it would be greatly appreciated.
get the battery charged up if it wont crank over. after that , let us know what happened.
Ok it cranks now with a full batt. but it still wont catch and fire up any ideas please
