That's a pretty piss-poor justification for murdering a man whose biggest affront to the American people was biting the hand that fed him.. namely the Bushes and their cronies who built him up in the first place. As for what he did to the people of his own country: So what? We've done worse to them since. Far far worse.
It's all irrelevant, anyway. For one thing, Shawn's right.. it won't change a thing over there. It'll just give a bunch of our fat lazy mouthy countrymen another inane and unearned (by their own hands.. if they're so pro-war, why aren't they over fighting it?) reason to wave a flag and shout things like "Git 'r' done!" and "WE (sic) really showed him!". For another, I've read some speculation that the guy who got the noose was one of the look-alikes Saddam was known for having around. Something about how the real Saddam had perfect teeth, but this guy had very poor teeth.. and something else about how Saddam's wife had visited this one in jail, proclaimed that it was one of the fakes, and never went back again. Same story for some mistress of his.
Whether it was really him or not, I hope one thing comes of this: I hope if A) he's still out there in hiding somewhere, or B) it really was him but he made arrangements for certain things to happen should he be killed, that any dirt he may have had on the Bush crime family should get released for the world to see. Treason in a time of war.. now wouldn't that be something to see? Of course, none of the corporate media lapdogs here would report any of it, so we'd all just go obliviously on with our lives.. thinking that the definition of freedom encompasses little more than which brand of car or HDTV or lunch or whatever to buy, or which idiotic reality TV show to watch, or the ability to spew out a few heated words on a message board, or the "privilege" of voting for which person is going to completely disregard our wishes and go on about their corrupt business as if we didn't exist. Personally, I'm sick of the whole middle east. So I'm stuck.. and I'm sick of it.

As much as you'd probabally hate it i'd be right there with you in NZ if I could. The oil thing is a joke, Alberta produces more oil per day than Canada uses yet we get our oil from other sources and pay what everyone else does... The Media is a joke, I havnt read a newspaper or watched news on tv in 3 years, the hourly news blip on the radio is more than enough for me, If its not happening to me in my country or my town firstly its none of my business and secondly I DONT CARE!
The problem is people are too comfortable so they need to look for something to complain about, like the neighbours unregisterd car, their untrimmed trees, the way another country is run. Stuff that is absolutally NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS!

Hey bird351 My family has a couple places in Guyana, a guy can live like royalty for under $20 a day including the $6/day for a maid to cook, clean, and shop. Beer is cheap and its always warm (the weather, not the beer :p ) Problem is its still South
America though...

Read "Holidays In Hell" by P.J. O'Rourke some time. For shiznits and giggles he visits some of the worst places on Earth and tells the stories as humourously as one could tell a story about death and desolation. He visits Libya, the Gaza strip, Somalia, Poland, South Africa, Nicaragua, and other shiznitholes. It was written almost 20 years ago, but aside from Russia no longer being communist the book still applies. He puts himself into some truly stupid situations.
Anyway, read that book, then tell us we live just as badly as those people. A poor North American is rich in the third world...
