I've had around 300 different cars and trucks(owned a few more than once), most were bought just to make a proffit. I have a list in a notebook somewhere, it was posted on the old board but fell victim of the 20 page limit.... :flip: you easyboard.
To let you know I ain't kiddin, back in the late '80s I bought 10 in one day from the local Pontiac wholesale lot. Have owned '57, '58, '62, '64(four), '66, '67, '69 and '70 Fords, least a dozen(total) '68-'69 Torinos/Fairlanes/Rancheros, as well as that many Chevettes, Fairmonts, and 15 '86-'88 Thunderbirds(12 Turbo Coupes & three 5.0s). Hell I've had a '70 Chevelle and Impala(also a '72), '76 Olds wagon with a 455, a '76 Firebird 455, '79 Camaro, two Diesel Olds, a Buick Regal, Pontiac Le Mans & Phoenix, Monte Carlo, a Vega, four Malibus, 5-6 Monzas(two were V8s), Sunbird, Datsuns, Toyotas, Le Barons, a Challenger, even a Yugo and a gay little Renault LeCar(Bet most of you don't even know what one looks like. And unless you can find a pic on the web, you still ain't gonna know cause I sure didn't take any pictures of it :grinno: ).... Back in the Ford camp there were 6-7 '74-'78 Mustang IIs and that many '79-'88 Mustangs, three '79-'81 Capris, half dozen Grenadas/Monarchs, Galaxies, Maverick, Escorts, a Pinto and Falcon or two.
I've never owned any Ford with a 3.8....(but have owned some 231 Buick 3.8s in Monzas, Cutlasses, & Regals. Also some Chevy 229 3.8s)
[singing] Viva la viva la viva le car, viva le car, viva le car, viva la viva la viva la car, viva Renault Lecar![/singing]

including all the gas ive used since i got it
old tote gote- have something like $30-$40 into it
old trials bike- payed $50 for it and it hasent run since about 5 hours
after i bought it
I've had my license for 17 years:
In that time I've owned (get ready...it's a big list!!)
'77 Ford Pinto - $150: daily driver til I killed it after 4 years
'87 T-Bird - $6200: Yep...the hot rod
'83 Ford Fairmount - $700: What a great all year beater
'92 Cougar LS - $3100: Current all year driver
'89 Mustang LX - $2700: The parts car for the Bird's 5.0 swap
You could say I get my money's worth out of my cars! I drove the Pinto though High School and still drove it when I got the Bird when I was 20. That Pinto was the best winter car I ever had and I spent maybe $100 on it over the years I owned it.
The Bird was bought for $2000 and after all was said and done after rebuilding it, I had $6200 into it. Drove it daily for the first summer I had it (never in the winter) and then it became my weekend toy from then on.
The Fairmount was another steal.....only money I spent on that car for the 7 years I had it was tires and an exhaust and one set of brake pads. That car was dead reliable too with it's straight 6. It had over 400,000 kms by the time I got rid of it. It ALWAYS started no matter how cold it was and never got stuck in the snow. Never did an oil change on it either (only filters) because it leaked a litre a week so I just kept adding it! LOL!!
The Cougar has been great so far as well.....haven't spent much on it at all to keep it going. Currently has 205,000 kms on it and I'm confident the body will rot away before mechaical woes ever catch up to it.
The Mustang.....picked that up soley to pillage the parts I needed for the 5.0 swap. After I took what I needed I sold various stock engine parts from it that I wasn't going to use and the rolling chassis to recoupe $1300...which of course was promptly spent on the T-Bird!
And if that list says anything about me, it says I don't give a rats ass what I drive back and forth to work....as long as it runs and is reliable.........and cheap so I can spend the money on the Bird.
So my secret's out. I often get asked how I afford all the stuff on the Bird and the simple answer is I drive cheap cars for transportation, I do ALL my own repairs and the most important two things are the fact that the Bird was built to it's current state from '91 til now and it's my only guilty pleasure....I don't spend a lot of money on other things.
Lets see.... Licensed for 8 years, and heres the cars in order of ownage LOL
1981 Chrysler Lebarron - $200, and I put about 8K on it before it died.
1986? Dodge Langer (Yes it was the shelby) $800 it blew a fuel pump, and i left it for dead :(
1984 Cadillac Eldorado $1000 was a wonderful car, died in an accident, i came out without a scratch, other car was an unreconizable lump of plastic and metal.
1988 Buick Regal Limited, $50 Good car until the rack went out at 65 MPH
1988 Thunderbird V6 $650 Great car, lasted me for about 2 years, then i sold it for $800
1987 Thunderbird TC $950 Got a year and a half out of this one, and it still runs. Its currently in storage, delegated to parts car duty because of rust.
1997 Toyota Corolla $10,145 Low miles, wifes car, we recently got rid of it because we couldnt afford payments anymore....Plus she hated that it didnt have much power (she used to have a 97 Pontiac Grand Prix GT)
1988 Thunderbird TC $2900 My griggs t-bird, immaculate, i love it...unfortunately being driven this winter due to lack of money for storage
1994 Chevey Beretta Z26 $750 had a blown intake gasket, and needs rod bearings right now. Selling it soon!
Appparently I missed this post the first time, so I shall do it now.
I got my licence: April 2000
I got my 1987 Cougar LS: December 2001
It is the only car I have owned (prior to its purchase I drove my parents backup 1985 Chevy Caprice Classic [350] and my brothers 1988 Ford Taurus [3.0 so gutless I can't even imagine the 2.5 in one (sure made the 3.8 in my other brothers Sable feel like a rocket)])
Looks like I have one of the shorter lists here...
I've had my license since '97, but I wasn't allowed to get a car til I was a senior in high school ('98-99).
Anyway cars I've had:
1988 Plymouth Reliant- wasn't really mine, my dad's old POS that I drove for a couple months before I got-
1990 Mustang 2.3L- $2000. Didn't even want this car but ended up with it anyway. It was a turd, but it was reliable. I drove this car for 5 years (putting 80K+ on it), sold it last october for parts for $100.
1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe- $1250, best purchase I've ever made :)
1984 Turbo Coupe- $150- didn't really own this, just bought it to pull the engine out of & stripped out the interior and sold it. Didn't have a title or keys. Got the empty shell hauled off by someone.
1994 Tempo- $650- current winter beater. This thing sucks, I can't wait to get rid of it and get something better.
A month or so ago I was thisclose to buying an '89 Dodge Raider for $500 until I went to look at it and found big holes rusted in the frame :disappoin

I'm sure I proply for got a few but this is the just of it all.
I've had:
1974 Jeep J-10 truck, with 360 that I rebuilt in high school, it needed new crank, and couldn't find a 360 crank, so it got a 401 crank and cam
1986 Escort GT, fun little car, got lai......nevermind!
1985 Dodge Aries sw, you talk about a pile of with wheels...
1986 Mustang lx, this car....did it all, took it muddin', drove across a crick with it, too see it, it looked like not less than 17 people got killed in the wreck that it was, but wouldn't ya know, after I got rid of it, some guy put a Dominator front clip on it, and painted it up, it looked real sharp after that
1992 F-150-currently MIA, as a result of the damage incurred on a snowy road not long ago (need driver door and fender...
1988 Thunderbird lx-my first one, the maroon, met it's demise at about 120 mph one night, shortly thereafter, it was parked for a good long while, till i stripped last summer.
1989 Thunderbird-the wife's car, this one gave us thousands of miles, serving us faithfully till the end.....? end of what, she still runs!
1988 Tbird-the white one-I honestly say I have abused this little V6 car that couldnt keep up with a snailed nailed to the floor (either the car OR the snail) SOOOOON going to get 5.0, and some other long overdue goodies
1988 Chevy 1500 4x4 with only! 40,000 miles
or the 1994 Caprice with the 4.3 liter LT1 that will outrun most stock Tbirds (it outran a '97 with a 4.6, and he got the jump on me)
Basically that's it, unless ya count about three more Ford trucks to the list...
'99 Super duty with V10
1989 F-150 5.0/M5
1972 F-100 390/4 speed 4x4-straight up mud slinger and ear ringer
bunch of atv's and motorcycles too many to list em all

Yeah, 10 cars so far before the age of 23. Someone has a problem . . .
I personally have only had two...an '87 TC for $1K and an '88 TC with a 351 for $400. Although my 22 year old brother has quite a list:
'87 Cougar XR-7--3,000

'89 Mitsubishi Galant--60 yes, 60
'95 Pontiac Grand Am--50 yes, 50
'87 Ford EXP--900
'87 Mercury LN7-200
Decent list, but doesn't measure up to mercoug302:)
By the way...he sold the $60 Galant he bought for 600, and the $50 Grand Am for 550. If I'm thinking right, thats around...oh say, 1000% value increase? This is too big for my brain. Someone please correct me, that can't be right...
Holy , you want me to remember all of them???

1987 Plymouth Voyager 2.6L Mitsu I4- First car. Got it in 2001 when I got my license. Drove it till the end of last winter. I broke it on a trip to see my buddy down at University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. Apparentally that little Mitsu I4 didn't like going 80 mph for 2 hours straight and decided to jump a tooth on the timing chain, blow a gasket on the carb, throw the timin tensioner out, and start spewing oil out the intake manifold gasket. It only had 79,000 miles on it when it did this:mad: . It's gone now
1988 Ford Thunderbird LX 5.0 V8-First car I bought with my own money. I bought it from my cousin in California in 2002 with 109,000 on it. I still have it and it just comes out in the summer for fun. It's not my daily driver.
1993 Buick Century 3.3 V6-Replacemet for the Voyager. Has 127,000 on it and runs great. It's just boring as hell to drive and looks like a silver brick. Atleast the cops don't pay attention to it because they think an old man is driving it :D .
