My Brother-in-law has been in for 2 years now, and he hates it.. Hes in Germany right now getting ready to go to Afganistan (sp?). Don't believe everything your recruiter tells you!! Its their jobs to lie to you!!

My brother's in the Army. He used to be in B co, 504 PIR, 82d Airborne. He went to Afghanistan but after that he changed his MOS and now he fixes CH-47D "Chinooks" in South Korea.
They jerk you around a lot man. But my brother seems to really like what he does. Good luck and try to get a job blowing stuff up if you can!
Take it from someone who's been in the service. If you really want to do this then see if they will let you do something in a medical career field. I was an aircraft mechanic which is basically a second class citizen that works extra hours.
I'm proud of you,and I don't even know you.Serving your country is something you'll always feel good about.I served in the Air Force from 1986 to 1991.I was in the Gulf in '90 and '91 the first time this all happened under Bush Sr.Good luck to you and I hope the best for you.By the way,many bases have garages you can use with every tool imagineable (air tools,lifts,welders,and paint booths),and the BX or PX,with cheap tires,etc.It may come in handy at some point.When I wasn't at the alert pad,or overseas,I was working in the garage.Once again,good luck.

i tried joining the marines in 2003 when i got out of high school, but i blew my knee out (thankful for it now)
now ive recovered from it, and i still wanna serve my country. so anyways i dont think i leave till about august, but in the meantime.... ill be macking with the ladies :ies:

Dookie in demo?!!, now that's a scary thought, seriously though, try to get into something that you can use after your service is up, unless of course you end up being a career man, but it's way too early for you to decide that. I wish I could have gone in, but back in '93 they wouldn't take me because of my back and knees. Good luck, I'm proud of ya
