i would like to know what u would do if your car washiznit and was going to coast more than $1500 to fix it? here r some pics of my car befor it got hit i will put some of it after it got hit later. http://www.supermotors.net/users/hellsing73

Who's paying to fix it?Where did it get hit (front,back,side,etc)?What kind of work can you do yourself?If you have to pay $15.00 to fix it,and the body is really bent up,it may be cheaper to find a donor body.If they are paying,let 'em do it and wait for it to get out of the body shop and enjoy it.

the back side on the passenger side and its $1,500 just for the panle and bumpuer not the stuff i need for the axle to. the panle is pushed all the way in.:birdsmily:

I'd take the money,and buy a donor car with it.Swap over everything you need from your car.Otherwise,it's going to get really expensive.Repair costs always seem to go higher than expected.

$500!? That hurts. Is that what the insurance company says that it's worth? Do you have receipts for the car that total over $500 to show that it is at least worth more than that? If it was my car I would have to fix it, it's worth more to me than that, regardless of what anyone could tell me. Guess you just have to make that decision yourself.

yeah man, these cars can be had cheaply i'd buy a shell and swap everything good from your car over to the other..

Yep,they can be found pretty cheap.May need work,but that's alright.If you find one,it'll be less work than what you are facing now,right?I bought my '88 Sport for $350.00.VERY solid,100% complete,and it runs.Now I just have to make it how I want it to be.Personalize it,as we all do.Be patient and look around.You'll find a good 'Bird around.

if it were me, i'd swap axles or do whatever had to be done to drive again. 500 bucks should get a whole rear axle from a junkyard (8.8?!), put new bearings and stuff in, and roll until i could get the repair done. that's a clean bird and it'd be a shame for it to be totaled for that. it just doesn't seem like that bad of damage to me IMO.

I tell you to not except any offer from the insurance company untill you are happy. Isn't the Idea of insurance to put you right back where you were before anything happened. Something like this happened when someone hit my wife. They were gonna give me $500 for the car we had. I just told them that wasn't gonna work. Anytime they started to tell me different I told them I'm gonna call my lawyer and talk to him and hung up. I got $1500 from them and they paid for the retal car and the insurance on it. That was for the 1980 datson 510. So don't let them push you around. Make them pay for it. This has worked for me a several others that have tried it.

P.s Don't sign anything until you get what you want from them.

Thats not as bad as I thought. The bumper can easily be found. Hell there was rust on it, might as well patch a panel in and save the car.

Whats wrong with your axle?

That dent over the wheel well should pop out with a little bit of working, replace the lower half and toss on another bumper cover.

Looks like the quarter sprung back to shape, If your worried about the straightness of the frame get a shop to check it for you before you do anything.
