Howdy y'all! I have an '87 Thunderbird,5.0,AOD. I have replaced the 7.5 with an 8.8 from a '88 LSC. The cam, intake and exhaust mani's are from the LSC as well. The ECA is from a '87 mustang 5.0/h.o.
h.o. mustang h-pipe, lers and dual tails.I made the pipes between the h-pipe and lers on the pipe bender at work. I've tryed endlessly to get it to run right to no avail. I think my biggest problem is lack of compression. Any thoughts.
Hello and wlcome aboard!!!
check Your compression, normally the compression is around 150psi, if is below 100psi is BAD or if is very inequals, like 150-120-90-140 ect is bad too, need to rebuild the block...
My 85 3.8 on My bird was these kind of compression last year, and for around 300$ on ebay, I rebuilted completely, now it runs great...
welcome to the boards and :ttiwwp:
Welcome to the boards. If you haven't noticed, we're Pic w's. You know what to do...:beatyoass:
Sorry. I might be able to get pics tommorrow if I sweet talk wifey really good. She is severly pregnant and moody though.
Welcome.

These are pics of my control arm to hold off the wolves!
Congratulations and Welcome!
So what are the problems specifically that it's having running?
Sounds like you did an H.O. conversion on the existing 5.0? Change to the H.O. heads? Swap the plug wires for the new firing order?
You've probably already done and or checked this stuff though.
yep! I suspect compession (ratio not static)because It has e6se heads on the dished SO pistons. It has very little acceleration and runs rich at idle. I have a marine 5.0 block that has only a couple hours on it. My LSC engine had a cracked block. The pistons are ok. I've been contemplating putting the HO pistons in the marine block (new rings and bearings). The marine motors heads have 'GT' in the corners (outside the covers) I've never seen that before, Are they any good?
Welcome aboard !!! I'm late,but I made it.
Youll have no issue with the compression ratio with the E6 heads and pistons.
I doubt compression is your problem.

She's a little dirty and in need of some tlc, one of these days i'll find some. LOL!

Sorry about the quality. I have a heck of a time finding time to do anything. I had to rush wifey to the hospital today, Everything was fine and she's home. Just blew all my sunlight though. Oh. by the way, Merry Christmas!
Well I checked it out with the snap-off scanner and there were no codes, yet it runs rich at idle. I don't quite understand how that is possible. It will burn your eyes if you stand behind it. I thought maybe compression ratio because the H.O. that the cam and intake came off had flattops and smaller chambers. Is the s.o harness wired different for the injectors than the h.o.?
Cams and Computers... Could it be that you have a cam from a LSC and a computer from a mustang? did you get the computer from a musting with or without mass air?... do you have the correct injectors?
do you have the correct firing order?
it bog really bad?
sounds like what happend to me it Aug. it was my MAP sensor vaccum hose. broke when i sprayed the motor off. it was rotted to , is it possible when you swapped the intake(?H.0?) that it was lose and came off?
Need any parts? got an 88 im parting
Yes, I have the cam, injectors, and intake from the lsc and the computer from a speed density Mustang Gt. Is that a problem?
If you look at the picture of the engine compartment you can see the firing order wrote in permanent marker. pretty cool eh!
I know that it is not the map hose, I have tried different maps and it didn't seem to make a difference. I've got good vacuum at the map.
I need a right hand inner turn signal.(between headlight and grill). I can't seem to find one anywhere.
got one that is resealed but not yellow. 5 +shipping with right pass or driver send a PM or email cougar86_89@yahoo.com
Not your problem, either EEC will run a Stang or LSC HO just fine...
If it's as rich as you say it is, you should be getting KOER and CM codes...
