Title: Hello Everyone
Post by: TurboRay on December 10, 2006, 07:18:58 PM
Hey everyone. This is Ray. Recently found this forum. Glad to see so many t-bird guys. I post as TurboRay or Turbobird on the corral, BAM, SVTpreformance, VIStangers, revscene.net, American Mustang, TurboMustangs, TurboFord, TCCOA and SCCOA. So i might run into a few people i know here.

my 9th Thunderbird is a 83 turbo coupe. Bought it as a basketcase. So far the bottem trim has been removed and bottem two tone painted black from the weird grey/green color. The interior is black leather and the seats will be upgraded to 35th anniversary stang in the upcoming weeks. All gauges are hidden and the interior looks stock

Car has been lowered 3 inches. It rides awesome, dosent se on anything. Im really happy with my combo. New shocks, Trim has all been painted body color and window trim is black. Tint to come soon.

Ahh mod list

Stock long block
Felpro 1035
12point head bolts
new stock head and stock cam
ported E6
Stock T3
3inch DownPipe
3inch exhaust dumped before axle
Supra FMIC
STi BOV
Ported lower
Gutted upper, ported for 60mm 5.0 TB
Large VAM
LA3 Computer
35# injectors
255lph
Kirban AFPR
B&M ripper shifter
Homemade Gillis valve 20 PSI

I have half a 5lug conversion. I just need rear axles. I have many different sets of 5 lug 17's i can throw on there.

I have been a mechanic, Tire salesman/installer and currently am welding alum for a living. I know my cars and am a mod on several sights so if anyone needs help maybe some of my exp will come in handy. As well i know more then i want to admit on wheels/tires. And i buy/sell them constantly so if anyone wants opinions on what stuff it worth lemme know.

My car when i first got it. And after a few months in the same parking spot. Also some in progress pics from when i blew the HG and took my time putting it back together and painted the engine bay and stuff.

I believe I know of you...

Also,  that car is low. I lowered mine a bit and it drags fairly often, wouldn't care to try driving yours around here.

I have a really nice exhaust. The guy who built it made it snug up to the body really well. In the middle is the lowest part. I can drive over speed bumps with a full tank of gas, my tools and someone with me and it dosent se. My tires are shorter too (225/50/16---245/45/16) so its lower then it looks.

Its a 20/20 car. It needs a paintjob really bad. Also the black on the bottem is starting to fade a bit.

VERY nice work on the '83. I love it already.
I'm also on The Corral and TCCoA.
I'm in the process of upgrading to the big VAM, computer (8UA), 35 lb. injectors, etc.
Did you have any trouble installing the ACT sensor? Did you get the later manifold, or did you find another way to install it?

I tucked my exhaust up as far as I could, but I can't go too far or else the driveshaft hits the Y-pipe.

Actually, I have more problems with the front fascia or the tailpipes dragging than anything else.

I run a single 3 inch exhaust from passinger side turbo crossed over to the drivers side. Its a dump at the moment because i need a custom built tailpipe. If i routed the ebrake cable i could get rid of the lower hump in the middle.

I stay away from stuff i can s on. Owned enough lowrider trucks to have it be second nature. I have parked and walked up driveways many many times. Im wanting to maybe do air bags just for it to look cool parked and have mobilty everywhere else.

I skipped the ACT sensor. Kinda lazy consider i weld alum all day. Its only 2 degree's of timing either way. Also doing the LA3 was the best thing i ever did. My car ran soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better afterwards. All the misfiring and wandering idle went away. Very happy with the mod. I HATE wiring and it took me a hour to install. That was being SUPER careful.

If you have ever been to vancouver island i bet you have. In that pic my car completed a 1000 mile camping road trip. With 2 ppl and camping gear, tools and food. Ran like a top in 95 degree weather in stop and go traffic. I never have been more proud of my turboford. Normally it breaks down if i even look at it sideways. lol
