Nice! except for that top.. it looks like ass IMHO
looks like someone threw a blanket over it :barf: could use some better wheels too..
No and i hope i dont again.
2 of them in my entire life. Here is not uncommon for some people to cut the roof of their car (did i mention that myself would do that if i have a sawzall?). Of course, dont mention safety, they going to twist like an accordion in an accident....
about the wheels, Eric lauhged at me when i told him that these wheels were the factory ones in every fox cougar-bird.....
That HAS to be the worst ragtop job I've ever seen.
And those stripes.... Ickey-poo.
That top looks like a horse blanket.
And yeah...what's with those wheels? ew.
Looks like it just needs a better fitting piece of fabric for the top. It's cool that they were able to make/find a frame that works for the top and it appears to be power.
I like the idea, but it's not well-executed.
Could have been done better. I think it would look better if done on a 4 eye bird and done right.
A top frame from an 86+ Chrysler LeBaron looks like it would be a close fit.
I like the car.. with the top down.
Scott
The Cougars look sweet as rag tops but not so much a T-bird. The roof line is just too swoopy and the rag top screws with the lines of the car.
ergh... thats fugly. now maybe it if had been a cougar it would look cooler... and different wheels.. and different colors
I know its not but at first glance I thought it was a 4cyl mustang w/tc nose on.
Mind my French but the car looks like an abortion. And is he asking 12,000
Shoulda known this would turn into a Cougar vs. T-bird thing.
Oh those wheels are the bomb. ;)
Surprised no one mentioned the older steering wheel in the newer body style...with no cruise control buttons either. Strange...
Helluva blind spot there with the top up...
Eric, ALL Mexico cars are strange! The strange part is the actual 87/88 nose on it. TBirds sold in Mexico right up to 1990 with the 83-86 nose. I have a ton of pics of an 89 TBird I almost drug home (Mexican "Sport Turbo" model hehe).
That car deserves it's own thread ;)
I dunno I kinda like it. True it does need some TLC but it could look nice, someday.
Did you expect a chip foose custom convertible work for 1,100 USD, car included ???
And yeah, Michael is right, here we have strange foxes....did i mention something about the V6 manual T-Bird ? those are 4 speed.....
If i had the money, and the means, i would buy the car, and take it home.
Take it to an upolstery shop, have a top re-worked, or at least stretched over the frame better, paint it, do some interior swapping, and have a very unique car. I like it.
Do you think that they thought of reinforcing the floor pan? If not, I can't imagine the body staying straight for long.
Jim
Umm, yeah, it does't look right. Now I'm glad they never made a real Thunderbird convertible. On a 4 eye, it would probably look okay but an 87-88? Even an 87-88 Cougar wouldn't look right as a vert IMO.
I noticed the older steering wheel, but figured it was so obvious it wasn't worth mentioning :dunno:
I like the look WITHOUT THE TOP ON!!!, but I'm in doubt for the windshied mounts, and the frame reinforcement, I guess I'll run over a bump, and the winhield crack and the doors don't open after that :grinno: :grinno: ...
This look nice, but the top is an horror, and again, I'm very very curious to see the job was made on that car, hmmmmm!...
I guess some KLINGONS worked on that eheheh!, and don't thrust the job...:grinno:
And at this price, put a decent radio in the dash and the insignifiant gauges in the empty space of the dash (over the radio), Ishhhh!, NO, I don't want to see the rest of the car finally...
Regards,
The word "abomination" immediately comes to mind.
Gag...
The guy actually did something a whole bunch of us here would most likely be afraid to do. He took a perfectly good hardtop and rip it up via a DIY ragtop conversion. For the price you could get it and get a good vinyl top and reinforce the chassis so it would be sturdy and look nice and complete.
There is no way I would take my current cat and hack into it. Maybe a v-6 that I found at a salvage yard for a few buck, but not the one I've put this much time and effort in. Not by myself anyway.....
I think the prices are in pecous (not sure if that's how to spell it,probably not) guys.
Car looks hurtin as it is but given alot of work, a different top, wheels, etc, it could look rather cool.
It look like a car builted By a junkyard Guy on a beer!!! yeaaasss sir! ...
Cheers!,
lol... i was honestly pondering something like that on my 87 TC parts car last year before someone bought it off me... It woulda looked better if they had the TC bumper too... and mabye a better colour... like black with the red stripe and good rims... or a body kit like that one guy from cardomain that you've all seen... y'know... black with the grey kit...
