my bird was in a bar fight today and got 4 black eyes.......ouch !!!!
:sorry: oooh man looks nasty!!! put some ice on it, shell heal up quick!! lol
SERIOUSLY though its sick. that car looks mean. dont be surprised if you get some pen 15y fellow motorists *cough*ricers*cough* that wanna pick a fight! you oughta beef up the powerplant a little so you can really smoke em. i dont recall what were your plans? i know you had said you were gonna do something
For now I just want to get everything painted up, fix a few things on it and then some day I plan on putting a 302 in it.
the car has been sitting for the past 3 years because I never had the extra money to do the things I wanted with it.
Now paint the inside of the grill to match. Looks killer.
That looks great. The look is sinister.
Do this, I did it on my 80, just tape off the chrome bars, It will look awesome.

I thought about doing this but man that is alot of masking.any pics out there that I can see what it will look like?
Just take a sharp x-acto or utility knife and cut the masking tape to the proper width, its a PITA but worth it.
I only have one pic of my car from a few years ago, py pic though.

Did you get my PM on the molding piece?
I just read it chuck. price sounds good. how would you like me to pay for it?
Chuckw you have a pm
Sorry for not reading it sooner.............never think to check my pm's
That looks awsome. I agree as well doing black on the grille.
Sweet :birdsmily:
Mud Flaps FTL!!
That looks excellent, I'm about 80% convinced to paint the buckets on the 83 body color. With the chrome taped off of course.
Uh... I wouldn't spend four hours masking that grille.
Just scuff the parts you want black, shoot the WHOLE THING black, and then go back over the chrome parts with a rag dipped in lacquer thinner. Old detailers' trick.
Looks good, dude...
Hi!,
Don't mask with a tape for nothing, when I painted My grille for the first time a couple of years ago, I just masked the large surfaces, and the thin pieces just wiped with a "vaseline" or anything, but grease, after the paint is very dry, just wipe off the "vaseline" or butter or whatever, that's all, It make a nice job, and quickly...
Just a bit of grease, like a saran wrap, not 1/4 inch thick :grinno:
the vaseline trick ftw!
did that on my turbines :D
4 hours??? took me about an hour to do mine, its not that difficult, the vaseline thing sounds cool though, gonna have to try that.
Scott
I like that look. It's the same look mine has factory.

yeah it works good.
mike, did you paint your grille? i think those are usually chrome right?
whatever the case, looks good!
Mine is the white from the factory. It was a FILA thing.
YEah that's pretty bad ass lookin!
If you're impatient, as I am, you could tape off just the outer section of the grille and do like I did a couple years ago:

I have a set of all-black TC ones left over from my '84 and I think I'll be doing something different before this years CJ.
When I saw "black eyes" I was expecting to see the car with some of those "smoked" sealed beam headlamps...ya know, the ones that look black when they're off.
Hello!,
When I started to work in a mechanic and bodywork in a garage at the age of 13, on sone cheap body job My boss don't pull over any crest on these cars, just wipe a vaseline on that, after the car is very dry, wipe off and clean the car with water ans soap...
On a GOOD job's we remove all crest as well...
I keeped this trick for the jobs like My grill, some mags, and other things like that...
May a use a pic for the calendar?
yes, I was going to submitt it,but it is missing the right front side molding.
