ok i have a 88 t bird , what size speakers do the dash take?? also what size speakers do the doors take??? please let me know i would liek to buy some speakers today. thanks
3.5" in the dash
6.5" in the door
and 5x7" in the rear.
actually the rear deck speakers are 6x8" speakers. A 6x9" will not fit but most aftermarket 5x7" are made to bolt into the 6x8" opening.
ok thank you so much
I found that if you bend or remove the hooks that the rubber straps go on to hold the speakers in you can fit 6x9's in there, you have to drill holes though.
o0 i been put 6x9 in the back i just needed to know the sizes for teh dash and doors cuz its time for a system :)
hey is it possible to put 4 inch speakers ion the dash instead of 3 1/2 inch speakers cause its hard to find some 3.5 inch speakers .
Hello!,
Hmmmmm!, I'm not sure You able to put 4" speakers in the dash, because the 3.5" is very close to the speaker grill...
But if Your factory speakers in the dash are goods, and if previously Your car have a premium sound, there is no problems, the dash speakers it's used only for a mid and high frequency (tweeters), if not, put an UNPOLATIZED capacitor of the value between 2.2 to 4.7microfarads in SERIAL with the positive lead of them, and it will be fine...
Connect the front speaker of the dash and the doors of the each side in parralel, this will not load Your radio, because with the in dash 3.5" with capacitor the resistance on load is very not significant...
On My side in My '85 Bird when I putted a factory premium sound in the car (harness and whatever), My in dash speakers are done, very very done, I putted a Mototola 3.5" piezoelectric in the dash, and a good bass speakers in the doors, thats-it!...
On the rear I putted out the 5x7" and installed two good BOSE 6x9".
Putted out the factory premium sound amplifier, and connected on the harness a Sherwood 240watts (total) amplifier, and it sound great and loud...
Hope this help...
