Title: got my wheels today
Post by: Chooglin on November 22, 2006, 09:00:09 PM
Well I got two of them anyway. I wanted to try them out for fender clearance, before I purchased the other two. I knew they would fit in the rear ok,but had my doubts about the front.as you guys can see,the front tire doesnt have much clearance between the top of the tire and the fender. are any of you running your tires this close to the fender without any problems?

Mine are closer...but my springs are stiffer and the wheel offset doesn't put it into possible contact....

You're going to rub on big dips most likely.

mine stick out about like that and they rub, but I still have the stock tc springs that are  170,000 miles old.

If I put stiffer springs on the front,to raise it up a bit,how bad will this mess up the front end geometry?

WOW it amazes me every time how much meaner these cars look with those type of wheels and the tires with white lettering on em.

Looks great, but there will likely be damage if you use those on the front. Can you get them with a different offset,or a smaller size?

Replacing the springs won't solve much. When i decide to go all out and get a paint job on my TC I will be getting the front fenders slightly flared and adjust the inside lip accordingly so that i have no rubbing issues.

yep, I am looking into that rite now. I really would like to keep all 4 wheels and tires the same size (I want to be able to rotate them).I would really like to stay with this size tire and wheel and I thought if I could just raise the front end up about a 1/2 inch,I wont have any problems................any Ideas?

Try to find some stock '99+ Mustang GT springs, those things are tall as hell (and you can usually get them cheap - or FREE ;)).

Car looks tough.  Great color combination.  ;) :D

what I ended up doing is, putting 15x8 wheels in the back with p255/60r15 tires on those and in the front I have 15x7 wheels with p235/60r15 tires on them

the rear tires are 10 1/4" wide and the fronts are 9 1/4 wide.to me they look just the way I was hoping they would.

I forgot to mention, all 4 wheels have a 4.500 inch back space.

I am posting this info. hoping it will help any of you trying to decide which tire and wheel sizes you mite need. I know it was a tough decission for me when picking them out.

Yes, there are actually 8 holes in the wheel 4 are for 4.500 BC and 4 of them are for 4.250 BC. you plug the 4 that you are not using with chrome plugs.

Note! these are not hub centric wheels.

So, are you using lug nuts that will support them? I think they have some kind of ridge that sticks into the bolt hole on the wheel.
My Lincoln LS wheels require unique lug nuts (from Ford) which properly seat the wheel. They are also lug-centric.
I'm not sure if I like using them. I still get some vibrations on the highway.

The car looks awesome, by the way.
