2001 2.5 at

The reason for this?

The 87 is  near dead
-Broken Motor mount
-Oil Sending unit has been damaged
-Radiator is leaking

The 87 is still in my possesion and will stay that way she is going up until i can afford to repair her.

Sounds like the '87 needs about $40 worth of parts and the better part of an afternoon to be back in fighting shape.

Congrats on the car.. although it's more of a P***y than a Cat.  ;)

Congrats on the purchase.
It will be nice to not have to beat on the '87 daily. That way it will come back in more than just "fighting shape." Plus it will be preserved, last longer and there's less chance of it getting wrecked.

That's a little front wheel drive car.Isn't that a chick's car?I agree that you should just fix the '87.It won't cost much at all.Get it going old boy !!!

They are chick cars........my wife has one:grinno:

Any questions about it just PM me.  I've become well versed in them in 80,000 miles of semi-ownership (It really IS titled to her).

I love the car and for a small 6 cylinder it has some pep, as to it being a chick car, yea then again so are cavilers focus's and other small v6 / 4 cylinder cars.

Half of our cars are 20 year old pieces of junk, yet people still talk trash about anything new and having less than a V8.

The Cougars are nice little cruiser/grocery getters. The 4 bangers are nice because theyre easy to work on and get good milage. The V6 is a PITA. You have to pull the upper intake to change the spark plugs.

I hate the ass on those things but having a newer reliable economic car while you fix the car your passionate about is great.

Congrats

:cougarsmily: The latter reason is most of the reason that i got this.:cougarsmily:

Not to mention it gets much better gas mileage, but thats a no brainer.Oh i was quite bored yesterday night so here is a little quick time of me circling the car then placing the camera near the exhaust i want to see how it sounded.

Its decent sounding i think, certainly no v8 tho.

One of my best firneds has one of those. His is an 02 V6 w/ a 5 spd. It is a nice cruiser. He put a pretty nice exhaust on it, and it actually sounds good! It was an AERO turbine ler. Never heard of it until he bought one. I understand it is a deisal truck ler. It is SS and has a life time warentee. I think it is maybe somethign liek a Dynomax Bullet?, but I am not sure.. Excellent sound though!! If you look in the pictures from CJ 05, you will see pictures of it, he tagged along when he heard the words Cougar show :D The car has me and him confused. It has no govenour, at least up to 140. He bought it wrecked so we are thinking something was damged and it doesnt work now?? You should be pretty happy with the gas mileage. If he drives it nice on the highway nad whatnot, it got like 34mpg on the way up to catjam. He has had it in the shop about 4 or 5 times now with tranny problems, but it has been BEAT!! and beat bad! But nice car non-the-less...

I do not know if I ever recall hearing you saying this was fast or a hardcore car? A FRICKIN DRIVER IS A DRIVER!! It doesnt gotta be fast! I realized when I had my 83 as my only car that if it was going to go anywhere performance wise, it could not be an only driver (it could, but making $5.60 at wendys getting 40 hours in two weeks compined was gunna be tuff). Nothing wrong with it as a daily driver. Heck, ill be flat out honest, when my turbocoupe was stock my friends 02 cougar woudl dust me! It was only on like 8 or 9 pound of boost, but thats besdie the point, it still beat me. My friends was prolyl a mid to low 15 second car stock. What where the stock turbocoupes and 5.0so's rated at? Good race stock for stock if you ask me ;)  A DRIVER IS A DRIVER, NOT a race car!!

i drive 46 miles round trip each day, I work at bax global out near the Toledo express airport. The 87 was not a practical choice for such a trip each day considering when i was driving it to work. I was dropping 40 dollars a week for gas, now some may consider that alot of money like myself. Some may not think much of 40 dollars worth of gas but in my book 120 dollars a month spent on gas is way to much. A 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder was my next option. so i went cougar when proposed with the choice between 4 door ZTS or 2 door 01 cougar.

I might be mistaken, but I think the 2001 Cougars had different headlights and front and rear bumper covers than the one you have.  Yours looks like a '99 or 2000.  Pics of the interior would confirm for sure.
