Title: For all those great electric genius's....
Post by: Haystack on November 08, 2006, 09:25:53 PM
Or anyone who has had the same problem ;)

I did a search but didn't find any clear answers. One mentoned some kind of relay.

My headlights don't work at all, unless I have the brights on. Obviously I need regular headlights because of how awsomely bright the brights are.

That is basically the only thing I have left to pass saftey. I can't figure it out for the life of me.

Also, this is for an 86 5.0, no specials like auto lamps or anything spiffy like that.

Oh an of course, thanks to all my freinds.

They come on with the bright switch, so I am going to say probably not...

i forget if the earlyer cougars and T/birds use the same setups as the 87's & 88's

is your high beam switch on the same shaft/switch as your turn signals? if yes that is a multi funtion switch and yes if it's bad yes the low beams may not come on but the high beams will..

this used to happen to the old cars to with the high beam switch on the floor

Check the bulbs first. Even though your outer lights come on with the high beams, there are two elements inside those bulbs. The low beam elements could be burned out and the high beams will still work.
