Title: Identifying ignition wires . . are these things the factory wires?!
Post by: King_V on November 05, 2006, 08:40:33 PM
Ok, I may be jumping to conclusions on this one....

I bought this car 2 years ago, it had 80K original miles on the clock.  Has 107K now, and still runs great.

However, I was looking a bit, and the ignition wires are gray, covered with lots of dust, but I think they actually have the Ford logo on them.

Now, digging through the receipts I have, I notice that the previous owner had work done at a Midas shop, where they supposedly did the whole kit and kaboodle for a tuneup, back on 6/4/99, when the car had 66K on it.

Including a set of "TAILOR RES WIRES".

Does Midas get their ignition wires from the OEMs?  Or did they simply charge the previous owner and not actually do the work?

Is there anything on the ignition wires themselves that might indicate whether they're the ones that came with the car back in 1988?

I have a 88 with the Gray Wires and the ford LoGo.. make sure if you change them that you use the Resistor Wires.. Surely No one would not do The work but still charge the unsuspecting  Owner..lol

Taylor is a brand of wires... I'm guessing they were bent over and given a lube job...

Yep gray Ford ones are original.

Or at the very least they were attained at a Ford dealer, but Midas surely didn't change them.
