Title: Need advice stupid neighbor
Post by: FordThunderbird on November 05, 2006, 12:40:55 AM
Ok I get a letter in the mail yesterday from the health dept. They claim that they observed violations on my property. Due to my stupid neighbor that has a deaf son that has nothing better to do but to scream at people, because their cars are what he calls too loud. :soapbox: The code the city of council bluffs quotes: "Junk" Vehciles and or autoparts ( inoperable Vehicles, vehicles with missing parts or flat tires Violate Munil code chapter 4.12 must be stored in a enclosed buliding with 4 walls and a roof or removed from the primises or repaired fully to comply with code 4.15." They said that I have a Black 85 Ford Bronco 4x4 with a broken rear window, Back window is the violation. Its a plastic window that has a little crack in it so i put duck tape on it. Note they got the color of the bronco wrong its blue.
Then they claim that I have solid waste == branches in the front yard They proceed to say if i dont take care of all of this by nov 8 I will face a $750 fine from the city.
I cleaned the branches up already. My question is how can they get me for a rear window? the vehicle was parked on my property and it runs and I drive it 2 times a week. Is it me or is this a bunch of bull that they can pick at me over a back window. I dont want to spend money to get a back window for it its a vehicle i use to haul stuff to the dump with and to tow a trailer. Can I just take the window out or does vehicle code state that I need to have one?

how can a deaf kid hear a loud car? If I were you I'd fight all the way and make someone come out and explain it and show you whats wrong. where are you located?

This is why I just bought a house 40KM from the city at the end of a dead end street with no other houses on the street and a tree'd in yard. I hate people.
I'd just go kick your neighbours in the teeth, people like that can not be reasoned with.
You'd better replace that ducttape with clear packing tape before the city tows off your daily driver :screwy:
:sorry: this is kinda one of my peeves..

Best thing to do is see if you can find someting wrong with his property. The one that throws the first stone always has the most to hide.
As for the rear window. Back the truck up to your house or what ever. So when they come to see if its fixed call the cops and report them for tresspass.

i hate my neibors too, not to take away from your problems but i have to park in the street every night. not so bad cause i live on a dead end, but i park there cause we have 4 cars and a 3 and a half car driveway. neighbor on one side doenst have a diveway and they use the end of the street, cool, the one on the other side has a garage and a 1 car driveway. he parks his wannabe harley in there and his car in the street. Its f'n 30 out in the mornings i dont think hes going to be riding that to work when he could get in his Regal and ride in the heat so why must he park in the street? then the neibors across the street dont give me troble and they only park one car in the street on rare ocassions and i like them so i deal with that, the newer neibors that are down caddy corner from me have two cars and a two car drive way. the wife stays home! why does he need to park in the street if he knows that he is going to leave for work before she even thinks about going any where. i park across from the property line directly and if you are in my space i will put my primer bumber right on your ass, and i know when they leave cause my room is in the front of the house and i can hear them start their buicks up, and i watch to make sure they dont even tap my car. its war on my street and now that i have beats and a loud ass exaust i mess with them daily. it will only get worse for them. ive never like the one next to me since before i was driving. and i have senoirity over both of them. 17 year on this street ill park where ever i well please.
sory but i had to get that out.

As mentioned before, fight it. Also what type of house does the neighbor own?? Cuz if you your exhaust "shakes" the house he has more problems to worry about. Also if the kid ever leaves home (when bigger) how will he adjust to apartment living??? Call daddy??
Some people Sheesh...

You say the rear window is plastic right. So cut it out completely. Go to like Wal-mart or something and get that thick clear table covering stuff, cut it to size and tape it in. Shouldn't cost more than $10.
I'm having a hard time seeing how it goes in but if you replace the entire piece with a piece of plastic and the tape isn't visible from the outside, it'll look like it has a fine window/cover on it.
I hope I never live in a place with these kinds of codes and neighbors. I really like where I am now, everyone minds their own business and no laws apply to the vehicles you have in your possession.

Well going by that, the streets are full of "junk" vehicles. I'm pretty sure the people that wrote that law never had to deal with such things because unfortunately life has it's priorities.

How many vehicles do you have in your possesion that violate these laws? Just the bronco?
Something like one of those would be awesome if you had the space. No permits needed, and you would love em in adverse weather.

Dunno about IA, but in VA the only window that is necessary is the windshield... The rest can be pulled out and thrown away... Doubt it is necessary, how many Jeeps you see running around with just the windshield???

Sorry to hear about your jackass neighbors Matt. Is it the '93 they think is too loudor the bronco? The '93 really isn't all that loud, I haven't heard the bronco obviously. You should move on over to Lincoln, we don't have those stupid codes :)

i like to use them the other way tip down and break them off. now thats a b to get out. but the ground has to be really soft. otherwise i doit like that and break them off. then they must pick them out and rack up the other parts that are all over the yard.
other ideas that i like to do. my favorite-- fish in the rear coil spring. now thats a gift that keeps on giving, use rexast side for best results in cold weather.
honey on the windsheild wipers-- passanger side only cause other wise they might kill them selves
when it stsrts to freeze water all around the doors so when they try to open them they are frozen shut. and you get to laugh as he climbs in from the pass. door
steal his antenna-- wont know what the hell is going one
super glue the key holes on the house or car-- for when sh#t is going down
all of this is not recomended or is it considered a good or safe idea s and neither me or this site will be held acountable if you get caught and get your ass beat.

I got a couple more. Freeze a can of shaving cream, the old stuff like barbasol, the can will burst due to expansion. Then peel off the can and place wherever is convienent ie mailbox, sock drawer, glovebox. When it thaws there will be an expanding wall of foam tons of fun. Also you can get some marbles, nails, random junk together then pull back his window stripping on the door and insert the random junk. Every time he opens or closes the door he will hear that stuff inside, bonus for the rolling noise of the marbles as he drives. Another favorite is the tootsie bar in the ler, get a fullsize tootsie bar and push it into the ler. It has to make it into the ler to be effective, but if you pull it off car will smoke and stink for like 3 weeks. I love to do that to fart tubes because its right there is just drops in lol.

Update: This morning I went to go get the plastic glass for the back window. I go to accelerate and the bronco wont move. I get out right rear tire is flat. Hmmm My security cameras didn't catch it i was parked out of view of them. I'm sure it was the neighbor jerk. So I don't have a spare so I had the bronco towed to goodyear and they put a tire on it for the grand total of $206 bucks. So with that and the tow cost me $260 total . Then I drove my Thunderbird to work and left the lights on so the battery was dead. So yeah its been a bad day with cars. I called the city to talk to the person that filed the papers on my property they never called me back. As with regards to the asshole its ok. More driving the bronco at 3am and burnouts! :D

I say sit back and do nothing for awhile. If you do it to soon they will figure out it is you. But after everything dies down I say put plastic baggy in the gas tank. It should clog you the fuel pump strainer but when they shut it off and turn it back on it should run. It will take them forever to figure it out.

Not to be an ass, but handling situations with dangerous stupid-ass stunts like that, that could get somebody killed, is ignorant. Think about this, what if that bag in the tank blocks fuel flow while crossing railroad tracks, or going through an intersection, getting in a wreck, and hurting, possibly killing someone... Yeah, didnt think of that, did ya? Jacking with someone's car is both immature AND dangerous.
If one cannot be an adult and handle it in a legal way, then they deserve to be in whatever trouble befalls 'em. Not to take sides, but as posted before, the window is cracked, in opposition of the law...the solution: shut up, fix it, and forget it. Then, you have a fixed window, and the cops/city/code enforcer/whoever can't cause any problems. Petty little disagreements like this piss me off....ever hear of "The Golden Rule"? Ultimately, living in the country where there are no code, or neighbors makes a good alternative! :grinno:
again, not trying to be an ass, but laws are laws, no matter how trivial or ignorant they are :pbb:
(FWIW, i dont see the signifigance of a back window in a bronco...aint like you're gonna drive backwards down the highway and get hit with bug or some silly !)
Title: Need advice stupid neighbor
Post by: Haystack on November 08, 2006, 10:09:47 PM
just cover the "back window" in tape. Then there will be no visable crack. wait till they get a flat or broken light, then do it to them.

people in texas tried doing that to me because my cougar had a broken axle for a bit, and i was broke as hell trying to save up for 5-lug rear axle shafts. i was prepared to sleep in my car and bust some heads if they tried towing it. s... anyways, now i live out in the woods. nobody gives a really, except one house that complains about my stereo being too loud. they just... suck. :P
