Yeah, its an apperance package that wasn't too common.  Sort of like the Levi's editions they had of certain cars.

Dont get off on some tangent about the fila being faster than regular birds, like you did with the PI crown vic.

The best and fastest way to say it is that it's a "uncommon" option package on a T-bird for 84-85.  I do want the Fila book, but next paycheck, I promise

My '88 is the female estrogen hell edition. It has monthly bouts of not starting and being cranky upon turning the key. It also experiences severe mood swings where it will run perfect and one minute later leave me stranded.

Wires from Vinnie and a new VR solved both my charging problems and the missing in the car. Now th eonly question is what will be my next item of buisness. Buying the 85 E'lan or putting all new brakes and maybe the 5 lug conversion on the Fila?

you happen to have the CFI with matching intake ports. ALL i suggest you do is grind out the upper half of the cfi so it matches the butterflies.  Also, you have the vac actuated idle control assy which is the earliest version of CFI.  You have blue top injectors,,right?

In one photo, you have a heater core line that branches off and goes to the intake,,Whats that do? where does it go?

Did you change out the front seal on the tranny?  its like only 2 bux or so.

The engine bay looks a whole helavalot cleaner imho,, did you sand yor valve covers?  looks good!!

I think you need to be gone with that egr and put a plate over it.

To the rear driverside of your CFI, is that sensor your Air Charge Temp sensor?

Open up the upperhalf of that CFI next,,, you'll see what i mean and if you have trouble removing the screws to split it in half,, leme know.

You have no choice,, your gonna have to grow your tool inventory!! serious man.  Id suggest asking around if anyone has doubles of stuff they wanna sell or get rid of or perhaps fleamarkets so it keeps cost down.  You gotta start somewhere.  Afterall, it seems you have the ambition so get the tools to match:grinno:

I have been a member nearly a year and a half longer.

Carb cleaner and WD-40 aren't flammable enough to kick the car over. Use starting fluid if you use anything.

yeah Mike you need a rear seal lol. not sure about the popping though. more than anything make sure everything is sealed up good, just to take that out of the equation. THEN move to mixture adjustment/timing/whatever else there might be.

Keep it up. Looks to me like your doing a decent job so far. But I must warn you, if you still want to meet up & spend a day at the JY, that thing will eat you alive in fuel! I havn't checked to see how many miles you are from me, but I'm guessing around 80-100. My zip is 43935.

I,ll let you guy's know when they get more fox body's in.Maybe you 2 can come down together. The last time I was at the JY (1Wk ago) they only had 1. It is an 86 cat that has been pretty much picked clean.

With the GT40P heads,you'll need the Ford Motorsport headers.the plugs go in at a different angle on the P heads.

Go and buy some wire loom, and some zip ties. It looks like  under there.

That was random.... Nope. As for starting the car, it did start and ran for almost 5 min's.  me and Brian are good. My god are those Mac's loud with ONLY that as an exhaust:D . Also need valvecover gaskets, mine suck. As it ran they bled onto the new headers. ....:toilet: Oh yeah, when you turn the key sonmetimes the car will turn over, sometimes nothin. Motor is fine, if you jump i toto the battery it works fine. Any idea's on that one also?

Can rubber caps contain the pressure of the water? I don't wana start te car and have a waterfall. If it's that easy I'll just do it tomorow.

We rigged up his old CFI/EFI style coil and it worked great.  As I understand it, coils either work, or they don't correct?

i dont know if swapping the gear from the TFI dizzy would work. ford made 2 different shaft diameters. 1 is .468" and the other is .531". the TFI dizzy usually had the larger one. he'll have to buy a new gear for his CFI dizzy. and its a PITA if you havent changed one out before. you can also ruin the cam/gear if you dont have it installed at the proper position.

In my case, i remved a DS2 dizzy and installed a towncar dizzy with no problems other than the correct oil pump shaft lenght.  the ds2 oil shaft was the same diameter but longer than the TFI shaft.

now,, the 232 v6 oil pump shaft is thicker so that would stand to reason that dizzy shaft would be thicker.

we are talking about 302's only. was the thicker shaft for the 3.8? is that what you mean?

what is a "ds2"?

i dont know about the v6's. i know on the non-roller 302 mustangs they used the smaller gear. when they went to roller cams, they used the larger one. the smaller one you cant find in a steel gear for roller cams, except from MSD.

OK, I have a fresh 302 (maybe 304 but I don't think so) up for sale. I am parting my fox body stuff out; I have an S197 now. Many peeps have bought the other parts from me via pickup, shipping, etc. and everyone has been very happy.
The block came with the car (stock) when I bought it last year. It is an 87 so it has the better piston design than others. It hasn't been abused; I just wanted to freshen it up while it was in the machine shop for piston notching. I had AFR185 heads and an X303 so I knew it would need notched.
The block was taken apart, inspected and checked, hot tanked and reassembled with fresh bearings and rings all around. This was done by a local V8 Performance Machine Shop. I also used proper engine enamel and painted the exterior black; using masking tape to properly cover stuff that need not be coated (water plugs, etc). It looks VERY nice and it ran extremely well. As an idea of how new it is, I also put a new clutch and flywheel on at the same time (not included) and when I took them off you could not see a single mark from starting to break in; the parts look like they came out of the box! Anyways, the engine has maybe 4 hours of runtime and 100 miles on it. The oil used was Castrol GTX and it looked great. It was a very crisp running car with quick revs and smooth, beefy power. It was N/A.
I used quite a few aftermarket parts and I will include them in the sale, so it's really a bit more than a shortblock per se.

The entire setup is already bolted together. I just unbolted the heads and tranny from it and am selling it as is. Right now I have some gear oil smeared on the surface of the heads, cylinder walls and piston tops. etc.
If you didn't want to run the smog pump, P/S or A/C (such as I didn't) you could really just bolt up your alternator, heads and intake and you'd have a crate setup. I have an alternator as well if anyone is interested.
I am located in Central Ohio and will go as far as the border. I can ship via Freight as well since I have a business with a dock, etc.

As far as I know, the secondaries don't iopen unless under load. Since I can't "drive" the car, thats hard to test.

I've said it before & I'll say it again.  I hate the V8 badges.  Especially pushed right up against the FILA badge.

Did you not unplug the vacuum line or do you mean you didn't plug it off after unplugging it?  If you failed to cap it off no big deal, it wont hurt anything.

If you did fail to unplug it then your base timing is somewhere around 10 degrees ATDC. 

Also pull your dizzy cap off and check the mechanical advance.  If it sat in a junkyard for a while it may be seized.  Also put a vacuum pump on the vacuum advance and see if it will pull vacuum.  cheap way put your mouth on it and suck. :D  But honestly if you don't have a vacuum pump, I've diagnosed a few bad vacuum advances the hard way. 

If you set base timing with the vacuum advance hooked up then your base timing is ATDC, very bad.

If your vacuum advance is busted then you will have nothing but base timing at any engine RPM that has engine vacuum.

If your mechanical advance is seized, at high engine RPM's you will be at base timing. 

Either of these situations will cause the car to run like total ASS.

Also forget about the carb for now.  If it runs then work on eliminating all the ignition variables.

will a MSD 6A box work with a duraspark dizzy or do I need an aftermarket one to make it work.
