Title: Modified 1988 Cougar LS for sale 5.0 HO, mass air, more!
Post by: CougrrrFiveO on November 02, 2006, 04:24:13 PM
Yup, finally selling my Cougar. Realized I will never have the time to do what I want to do with it, so it's time to move on. I have to take some new pics of it, and should have them up in a day or so. The paint is oxidized and looks like . The interior should be redone. I'm taking the stereo out. Somebody backed into it and put a crack in a front marker light, and a crack at the top of the nose.

The good things:
5.0 HO out of a 91 Stang
Mass Air conversion
AOD rebuilt approx 3,000 miles ago with high stall convertor & cooler
Maximum Motorsports caster/camber plates
8.8 traction lok rear from 88 XR-7 with 4.10's
turbines with Cougar centers & new tires all around
I've got a nice Turbo Coupe hood that will go with the car.
All have lots of spare interior parts, spare power seat tracks & motors, and lot's more to go with it.
Runs great and has great power!

I'll give it a week or so on here, and then it's going to eBay.

Car is located in Northeast Philadelphia.

E-mail me directly at jkerwick@gmail.com

Here are some pics. I decided not to wash it, so that you can see it at it's worst, oxidized paint and all. Also forgot to mention it's got the 130A alternator upgrade, new struts & shocks within the last year, TurboCoupe spindles, control arms, Mustang GT front calipers, Russell braided steel brake lines, true dual exhaust with a Mustang H-Pipe, K&N air filter, air silencer removed. Among the spare parts I'll be throwing in will be FlowMaster lers, another XR-7/TurboCoupe steering wheel (there's one on the car now), a couple of extra dash and console trims, an extra spindle, and much, much more!

Also, I have a bra for this that goes with the car. With the bra on, you can't notice the crack in the header panel.

Again, the car runs great and is very reliable.

I also installed a new heater core 2 weeks ago!!!

Make me an offer!

Oops, didn't put the state in the first post, just put Northeast Philadelphia.

That's Philadelphia, PA.

If anyone interested would need to have the car shipped or driven to them, I can get a quote on that.

Sorry, been really dragging my feet with getting rid of this. I have to take the interior pics (after I clean my junk out of it) and pics of all the spare parts I'm going to throw in with it.
I'm looking to get as much as possible of course! :)
I really don't have an idea of how much, just looking for the right offer to make me give up all thoughts of keeping it.

Gotta love it when people make offers on just parts of your car when you are triing to sell the whole complete and running thing huh?:dunce:

If he was parting it out, I imaging there would be a post stating so, not one for the whole complete and running car.  Man, quit wasting the guys time by making him think he has a serious offer when all you want are a few parts from it.  There isn't much more annoying then opening a post, thinking you have somebody serious about buying the car, only to find the moron wants you to rip parts off it to sell to them to make what is left of the car, worthless.:nkhk:

Oh man.... I know it ain't pretty....but I so want another Cougar.... It'll be a while before I can make an offer, like about 2 months, but I will  talk to my husband and see what he says. If it's not gone by then, we'll see.

I haven't been on the board in a long time. The only replies I answered were the ones that e-mailed me. I had quite a few offers on the car, but only two people actually came out to see and drive it. Those were local people that saw my listing when it was on Craigslist. One guy offered me $2600... cash... he had it with him...

But I just couldn't do it!

I'm keeping it and taking my time to finally redo it the way I want it. I'm going to start stripping the interior and replacing everything I can. I'm going to make the interior black and the outside will be Titanium. It's going to be a long project, but I'm in no rush.

My father was the first owner of this Cougar, and his health is failing, so it's become a more emotional type of thing. I just couldn't convince myself to give it up. It's got it's quirks, but it was my father's favorite car of all the cars he's owned, and I think I should keep it in the family for as long as I can.

Thanks! I'm hoping it motivates him enough to work with me on a couple small things with the car. I think having a project together will boost his attitude and outlook.

AMEN TO THAT!!!!

thats exactly why ill NEVER let my car go.

im with you man! dont leave her! if you at all have the resources too, fix 'er up and have that connection to good ol' dad!

to me this and the '38 still aren't really my cars. i STILL think of them as "daddy's cars", especially the cougar, since he bought it when i was 12 and well aware of what it was and getting a little interested in cars in general.

to dads we wish we couldve known longer! :(
