I see no reason why they shouldn't unless they are too tall.
im going to get a different set right now.
Um...those aren't '06 valve covers and they aren't really intended for EFI. You better check things out more thoroughly before you buy...
They can be used, but ther's a down side. You'll have to drillout the holes that hold your throttle cable to the EGR spacer so that it will clear the taller valve cover, and, the holes for the opil filler will be under the throttle cable bracket, and the other will be under the upper intake. Not cool.makes oil changes suck.I'd stick with EFI covers and geta nice set. There are chrome ones on E-bay all the time for less than #20..00 plus shipping that are a direct replacement for the current factroy covers. Those that you are looking at really aren't worth the time and aggrivation they will give you.Just get the right parts for the right job the first time and call it good.
stuff like this is for the 5.0 efi:

You use EFI covers on a non-EFI engine but you can't use non-EFI on one with EFI unless you use spacers I think
First of all...please don't take guesses when it comes to someone else's money being spent. Second, unless you "know", and not "think", please don't post. That's how misinformation gets started.
You
can use non-EFI covers on an EFI car with modifications. Trick Flow sells an oil filler neck that can be installed in any valve cover. I have that on my tall chrome non-EFI valve cover. If the driver's side valve cover has a back grommet you have to use a breather, with tends to get oil all over that side of the engine bay. Johnny Cougar has non-EFI covers on his MN12 5.0 and they worked. Very tightly though. Plus he needed an intake spacer. Plus, he now needs a funnel with a flexible neck to put oil in.
So can you use them? Yes. But it's not recommended for EFI because of the mess and because it's not optimized for that particular setup.
Right.
GOT SOME FOR AN EFI!
now for the problems, i need to get them on so i can put in the new gaskets. i need an oil neck and they both have holes, whats that about?
Pics???
try and get some tomorrow
i dont konw if it said it clear so
i meant one hole in each
I have some chrome ones made for 5.0 EFI cars on my Bird. I got them from Auto Zone (:pbb: ) about 3 years ago. I don't know if you can get them anymore. They have a hole on the passenger side in the correct location and the driver's side is blank with no hole. They didn't have a tube with a cap so I "improvised" a bit. I got a 1.25" chrome plumbing pipe from the hardware store and pounded it into the hole to create a filler neck. I then bought a breather for a 1.25" tube and bolted it on (the pcv valve needs to draw air from some where). They look good but because there is no baffle on the cover oil gets splashed up the fill tube and some gets on the plug wires. I have to clean them once every two weeks. When I put the HO in the car in the spring I'm going to use stock aluminium HO valve covers so I don't have to clean up the oil mess.
Oh yeah they fit fine with no spacer on the upper intake. You can see one in the picture though. I added it later because I wanted the 2 ft/lb torque it adds:grinno:
On a side note does anyone know if these would clear 1.7 roller rockers?

I would imagine they would since the chrome steel covers are much thinner than the aluminum covers, and you have to do some grinding on the aluminum covers for the 1.7's to fit. These chrome ones are on E-Bay all the time for less than $20.00.I have a set of the factory aluminum covers (came with the H.O),and I polished them.Very sweet.
I ment the Cobra covers I had the link to, not the ones I currently have:grinno:
See my thread http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=10702
i got it figured out i took them in to O'Reilly's and look like an ass cause i thought i need to get a neck to fill tham, but they were breather holes. all i need to do is but them on now. ill post pics ASAP. guy at Parts store said that i should get rid of the PVC or whatever. how?
thunderjet302 thats one clean compartment. it looks great!
Probably the PCV line from the stock valve cover to the throttle body. Just put a breather on the valve cover and plug the fitting on the throttle body (look at the pics I posted you can see where I used a vac plug to do just that).
Good stuff i think i might try and put them on tomorrow. i have gasket sealer and it i need a touqe (spelling im tired) wrench. what is the stats on the touqe for the bolts.
were can i get a cheap wrench? harbor Freight?
Use the rubber valve cover gaskets and you'll never need silicone again on them, plus, you can use those gaskets over and over.Be very careful with stamped steel valve covers, the can warp VERY easy if you overtorque the bolts.
torque settings for the bolts?????
So.......I had to read that twice...then laugh.
cant afford to do anything really right now so ill make it lokk good:grinno:
Snug 'em till they are tight. You just want them tight enough to stop oil leaks. They aren't holding the engine together.
dont want to over tighten them and warp the cover though
Hey,it doesn't cost much to mod these if you shop around.I'm picking up an '88 Sport, with the SO 5.0,and I bought a set of Mustang heards (factory),upper intake, throttlebody, spacer, and H.O cam all for a little over $100.00 shipped.Save your money for bigger things. The little things end up giving your car a look that it can't back up.Work on function first.
well i got them now so im putting them on.
Torque (spelling) Settings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont w3ant to warp them
I have no idea.I just snug them.I also use the rubber valve cover gaskets, and the have little metal washers molded into them to prevent overtorquing. It doesn't take much. When I used chrome steel covers,I hand tightened them With a 7/16 socket on an extension.I didn't use the wrench itself..
Here is an off topic spin. Can you use EFI covers on a non EFI engine? I came into owning a set and would like to swap them onto the Fila
i have everything to put them on but the problem i have now is the leak so bad and seem to loosen up, the bolts, just making it worse
The factory gaskets are probably bad because of their age. New gaskets and valve covers *shouldn't* leak.
