AVG for your antivirus

AdAware and SpyBot S&D for spyware

Thats all I use, my computer is on almost 24-7 and I never have problems.

If you search theres been threads discussing this before. Might come up with other good programs.

everytime I open internet explorer it takes me here http://safeiepage.com/  and shows a warning box.  and I keep getting these security alert boxes saying I have a virus/network worm.  I have tried AVG, Spybot, Ad Aware, and windows defender.  I dont know what else to do.

Strange thing is I went to that site and got a warning too. It told me I'm vulnerable in some PC files that aren't even on my computer? (I have an iMac)

Easiest solution is to stop going to Porn sites. Pay a local stripper instead of paying for antivirus. At least that way you're helping out someone in the community. ;)

so how do I get rid of this web page?

I've already given my suggestion, along with 2 links.

First link contains:

The "safeiepage"is always my homepage even though under the internet option its still google as normal.

Followed by:
I suspect you have what is commonly know as a Smitfraud infection.

Second link has the download and usage instructions.

SmitFraudFix removes Desktop Hijack malware: Smitfraud, Win32.puper, AVGold, Security iGuard, Spyware Vanisher, quicknavigate.com, updateSearches.com, startsearches.net, Virtual Maid, SpySheriff, PSGuard, SpyAxe, WinHound, AlphaCleaner, AdwarePunisher, SpywareQuake, SpywareSheriff, VirusRescue...

I have to assume it didn't work, or you didn't bother to try.

This is a forum and these guys are great! Sign up, log in and do a search for what you are experiencing and add to one of the threads or start a new one.
One of the guys will give you links and step by step instructions to download a program called Hijack This. It creates a log file that you copy and paste in the thread and they will tell you exactly which ones to let Hijack This erase.

Then theres a program they will have you download with a free 14 day trial, it does a search and im telling you this program found 187 items that, ad-aware se and Norton never found. Ever since then I have been good to go...

google for and run smitfraudfix (run in safe mode), then go to grisoft.com and install ewido and run it, then uninstall it. bingo bango.

now, stop clicking on things you don't know what they are, use right click and close from your taskbar, and install firefox already.

Yep, do what Funny Cricket said, but on the contrary I wouldn't delete any of the apps you download like the few I will mention below..I'd run them maybe once a week to just be safe....run the apps in safe mode without networking, but make sure you properly update the definitions before going into safe mode....Safe mode is built for people to repair and uninstall different things with little, to no problems...I use AVG free for my anti-virus program, AVG free for my spyware tool (aka Ewido), Adaware personal for my Adaware and a few other misc. tools...I would also suggest you install Firefox..it's much more secure and scalable than IE..you can install themes, extensions and it pretty much disables/blocks a lot of junk that IE lets pass thru and gets you infected....now people that click on anything that pops up, doesn't help regardless of your browser, but Firefox, for the most part, prevents as much as possible..I have the adblock, nojavascript, and keyscrambler extension installed with my Firefox.  1 other thing I'd recommend for everyone is to goto http://www.google.com and search for Mike's ad blocking host and install it...this will block a lot of ads, which are usually what people click on that replicates a shiznit load of spyware on the person's PC.

88turbo-have you tried changing your homepage in IE back to whatever it was previous to the attack?!!? have you cleaned out your cache, temporary internet files, cookies?!?!!?  Go here and download/install this application...http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php#hijackthis  It's hijackthis....run and save the logfile then post it in this thread and we'll go thru it and tell you which to delete...
