Just got a few more small things to do tomorrow and it should be ready to run. :shakeass: NO more 3.8L Headgaskets for me.:grinno:
I also changed over most of the interior too, I will finish that project whenI get some more time.
Ready to run me again Ron?
Keep up the good work.Is it an H.O.?Now you're almost ready for the 3G upgrade.Looking good.
She is now 100% done! Fired it up tonight, god I missed the sound of a 5.0L:shakeass:
It IS plug and play with the '88's with the exception of the fuel lines. I just cut them where they are steel leaving about 1.5" s of steel on the end of the plastic linesm then double flared them and lengthened them with fuel injection rubber hose.:dunce: I will run the proper 5.0L fuel lines later, just couldn't wait to fire it up.:grinno:
Here are some pics of the completed engine. Will add videos after supper.
Here are the videos:
In this one you can hear what sounds like a rocker knocking, but as it turned out... I forgot to take the wrench off the passenger side header and it was banging against the frame. :dunce:
Cranking the key for the first time (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLIhl9RONi4")
This one is from the tailpipes.... idling and lightly revving.
rumbling exhaust (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ja2lRsqGWUQ")
VERY NICE !!! I'm proud for you.It does feel nice, doesn't it?I love the H.O. in my car as well. You just want to drive and drive and not stop.I love it.
Make me want a HO in mine:cool:
Your a Hoss
Thanks alot guys. I just got back from a one hour test drive, and man is it a blast!!!:grinno:
Next project I think, will be a stang 8.8" rear, with 3.55 gears and CHE control arms.
is it a so or ho looks like your timing is for a so
Nice, I remeber firing up my 5.0 for the first time. Did you bypass the NSS? I noticed that when you started it.
Jim
Nice, I remember firing up my 5.0 for the first time. Did you bypass the NSS? I noticed that when you started it.
Jim
yeah, it is just a SO til spring, I don't need too much power with winter around the bend.
bypass the NSS? What is that?
im loving the way your engine looks!! keep up the great work!! great job!
I know what you mean about 3.8s. I test drove an 88 T-bird with the "good" 3.8 (it had 39,000 original miles) and I was amazed at how weak it felt. I know my 5.0 SO isn't that strong but it felt like my car could have run away and hid from that 3.8 car.
Oh since you have a 5.0 SO with a T5 and a 3.27 open how about you come down to Chicago and I'll run my 5.0 SO AOD and 3.73 Traction-Lok car against ya? Who will win? :grinno:
NSS = Neutral Safety Switch
Oh yeah, duh! No I didn't bypass, it, just never hooked up the clutch switch yet.
Plus yeah I would win, I have already started the HO swap, plus I have a nice 5 bolt conversion with the SN95 suspension, with 4.10's and posi. and 17" '94 GT rims, that will be going in it right after the engine swap.:shakeass:
Lets run for pinks. LOL:grinno:
Well then lets wait till spring to run for pinks when I have My 5.0 HO with GT-40 heads, Cobra intake, and 65mm TB. :shakeass:. lol:grinno:
lol my money is on RJ
Well one of us either has to go to Canada or Chicago to do this. Who wants to fund a road trip? :grinno:
I'd go to Chicago for a race sometime. But it will have to be in the spring as the bird is in hibernation right now.:birdsmily: LOL
Wont run for pinks though, I cant stand to watch grown men cry. ;)
I'd race you guys for a laugh.I'm a little south of you,though.
Just cause you don't like to cry doesn't mean we can't race. I'll let you keep your car. lol :grinno:
On a side note it would be cool to get everyone together for a race sometime. Too bad we all live so far apart.
