Title: Engine light?
Post by: ipsd on October 14, 2006, 08:48:56 PM
In my 84 turbo coupe I don't have a check engine light I only have a red engine light. Well tonight it came on out of the blue. So I swung by work and hooked it up to the AutoXray. It did throw a code Knock sensor not detected. no biggie as the sensor has been disconected for about a year so I know that isn't why it came on. So does anyone have an idea why that light comes on? I have good oil pressure and the sensor for the stock light is new. So I don't think that is it but one my never know. Any how if you know what all makes that lite come on let me know or if you don't and just want to say somthing or remark feel free.

On the 83-84's the Engine light was hooked up to the oil pressure and water temp senders.  It's a dummy light sustitute for a lack of gauges.

Thanks chuck. It came on a flickered. I kinda worried me. Maybe the temp sender is going out.  Maybe a bad wire. Hope to find it this mon.

Flickering is usually a sign of low oil pressure (or a bad sender), especially if it happened at idle...

It happened while cruseing at 45mph. on the gas but not really. It seemed to flicker with the bumps in the road. That what makes me think bad wire. Never know though. Thanks for the input.
