OK, We'll try this again, maybe it will make sticky! So, I'll start with the oldest completed model I have (built it 10 years ago in 1996). 1955 Chevy 210 post gasser. It won 2nd place in the Scale Auto Enthusiast Magazine Sketchpad contest. Based off of an OLD AMT re-issue (the orignal Badman). SBC with a 8-71 roots blower, drop front straight axle, Moon tank, Cragar big-n-littles. Paint is spray-can, Cessna Continental Gold and Krylon Jet Black. It was printed in the Feb 1997 issue of SAE. I actually have 6 other completed models here, plus pics of 3 others that are no longer with me. What do you guys have? I know Sleeper has quite a few projects. Round-robin one at a time with details! What did you change? :sawzall: What did you modify? :welder: And remember,
:ttiwwp:
I have over 100 1/24th scale models I have done, but my best is a 1998 Saleen Roadster with a fade paint job from electric blue to charcoal gray front to back. I will post some pics tomorrow. Also did a 99 cobra with the superstallion paint scheme in charcoal gray, whit and silver.
here are a few pics of the models I have been working on. its a 1950 F1 custom mods include 96 4.6 DOHC 5 speed manual tranny and wide tires for the rear. Has enough power to drag the TC around ;) (sorry for the poor quality camera phone pics. color of the truck is actually Candy Apple red)
Gee, does it have to be 1/24 scale kits? I have over 300 H.O. (1/64th scale) slot cars. Everything from A classy stock '59 Impala to my totally custum, tricked out Ford Racing Tractor Trailor rig and everything in between. How bout a fusion of '56 Ford F-150 and a GT-40 MkII? A Daimler-Benz Cabover merged wih a Porche 908? How 'bout a '66 'Stang that Ed "Big Daddy" Roth would drool over?
And the best part? I can put 'em on the track and drive 'em. :D
Lets see them
I dont think there is any limitation. so show what you got :hick:
You asked for it:
Sorry for the rather poor quality. Took them on my phone and it doesn't like to focus that close.
Looks like a nice set. Love the GT-40's. I have a few projects in the works. My pride is my F-150 Lightning w/ 98 Trans Am " sleeper " with a C5R engine in it. I'll get pics up sometime soon
SWEET! I have about 200 HO Scale slot cars, including about 80 TC's. I'll have to get pics of them up!
Well, I have close to 50 1/24th scale models that I have built. Most of them arent modified since I have started to prefer the GT series and sports cars. All of them are spray painted, I dont like using the brushes anymore and I can usually get away with only using them on the interior details.

If you go here (http://"http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/126638905gugmSv"), I have pictures of most of my models. Everything from my RC sailboat to a WWII diorama and even my Star Treke models. The Impala and Ram Charger are the only ones that I have pics of that I modified.
The pictures of my 1/82nd scale wood model of the USS Constitution is here (http://"http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/126513851HxIUYU"). Pictures all the way from the first day I started it to 2 years later when it was done. Right now I have a Star Spangled Banner (15 stars/15 stripes) in Boston waiting to be flown onboard the real Constitution on the 21st. October 21st marks the 209th anniversary of the christening of the Constitution, after my flag is flown they will ship it back to me with a certificate, and I will put them on display with my ship.
As for my oldest model, it is no longer with us. I had a model of an F-4 Phantom that didnt survive one of my families moves. I was still big into model rocketry at the time and I realized that a C size motor would fit perfectly into the rear of the model inside the engine. So I took it across the street to a parking lot and launched it horizontally across the pavement. It skipped off the asphalt 2 or 3 times before it impacted the curb and literally blew up. The motor was the biggest piece that was left after that. Good fun!
Here are 2 of mine, a 1998 Salleen S351 Roadster, and a 1999 SVT Cobra.
These are only 2 of about 100 or more I have. I will get a group pic of all of them later
Dude, those look kick ass. I want to try to find a T-bird model and do a Fila lookalike. Anyone know of any?
i haven't done models since i was in H.S., This thread has me wanting to get back into it. where do you all go for a good selection? 15 years ago you could go to wal mart and they would have a whole section for models, but now, your lucky if there are jhalf a dozen cars and they are only skill level 2. i would like to find a few 86 cougars to mock up stuff i would like to do to my car, but i can't find any. where do you find the fox body cars?
They never mad a Fox Cougar model. Best bets are Hobby Heaven or Hobbytown stores unless you actually have a local hobby store.
awwww..... that blows... i'll have to start checkin the local hobbie stores. thanks. i used to really enjoy building, i just kinda stopped. now that my kids are old enough not to mess with them, i think i will start again. anyone use the Testors airbrush setup with the electric pump? is it a decent setup?
It's . If you want a good airbrush, get a Paasche dual-action and a portable tankless air compressor (like for blowing up tires). That's the setup I'm using and it ROCKS. Keeps the pressure nice and even and the airbrush works really well.
I build a lot.I can build 3 a year if I work really hard at it.I like to hinge the doors and trunk, build doorjambs, poseable steering, full wiring and hoses, seat belts and photo-etched parts.I enter a few contests each year, and have had a couple of my cars in the Scale Auto magazine and ModelCar magazine.I love the challenge I guess. If I could post a pic,I would.I can e-mail pics, but for some reason, posting never works for me.Will anyone let me e-mail some pics to post for me???
Sure thing, hit me with them.
I usually have to drive an hour to Greeley (Don's Hobbies) or Ft. Collins (Hobbytown USA) to get a good selection of models. If I dont feel like driving or I want to stock up on a few to last me for a while I order them from towerhobbies.com. They have a really good selection and they occasionally have a few rare ones like that Jäger BMW 320i that I have. :D
I have about 60 or 70 kits in the garage.I sell them on E-bay a lot.It usually takes me about 4 or 5 kits to build one the way I want it.I have a Hobby Lobby near here, and they always have either a 50% off sale,or 40% off coupons to download.
Must be nice to have a Hobby Lobby that doesnt suck. The one here in town never seems to have anything except the snap-together cars. :beatyoass: I still stop by every now and then thinking I could get lucky, but that is kind of like going to a monastery hoping to get lucky. :dunce:
I've got another one in the making but I want to keep it "top secret" till its done ;) all I can say about it is its not a mustang and its faster than a TC!
Are you building a kit of my T-Bird?LOL.
lol could be send pics :D
I sent them to Fila,he's going to post them for me.
I'll have them up by 3 today.
A question about models: Are all 1/24 scale models equal? The scale, I mean - how accurate is it? I ask because I'd like to get another of those monogram Turbo Coupes and a first gen Lightning to build a model of my car (the TC for the body, since mine has TC interior and will have the hood, front clip and bumper when I get around to installing it, and the Lightning for the 351W). I know I don't have to worry about such silly things as making it run (as would be the case with the real swap) but I'd like the scale to be accurate. I'd also like to make the lights functional with LED's (including a miniature sequencer :D) I would also like to make mini CHE tubular control arms out of the plastic ss the model pieces are stuck to, but that ain't as important as the engine and lights...
I'm working on one of the T-Bird kits now as a replica of my car.I had to really search for parts.I found an AOD,5.0,heavily modified upper intake to represent my Explorer unit, and I spent HOURS turning the TC nose into a standard nose with the grille. That was no easy c.I found the turbine rims, but have since swapped to TC wheels (polished),so thekit pieces are right on the money (with a little detailing and valve stems).I filled the scoops on the hood since i want the kit to be accurate. It should be finished in about 3 months.
Well, kinda. 1/24 and 1/25 models are about 99% interchangable. Where you start to hit a brick wall is with older and/or lesser quality, (AMT!!!). Anything AMT that says 1/25 on the box, just walk away, hell pretty much ANY AMT since 2000 just walk away. They haven't released a "new" kit in 6 years, just re-hashes of their old (and worst) ones. All Revel-Monograms are REALLY nice. Just in the last year they've released a C6 Corvette, Z06 C6, C6R, 06 Mustang, 06 Viper SRT10, Viper SRT10 Coupe, Ferrari Enzo, Ferrari F430, Ferrari 599 GT, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, 65 Shelby GT350R, Shelby Cobra, ALL NEW, and all very, VERY nice models. Polar Lights are good, Lindberg's and Taimya's are awesome. Pretty much, as long as it's NOT an AMT, you can't go wrong. For your specific case, the Revell TC kit is a very good kit and the Revell-Monogram 99 Lightning kit rocks. The problem being it's a 99, so no 351. Don't worry, the Saleen S351 Speedster as a supercharged (centrifugal) 351, the 93 Cobra has a great 302 Cobra, and they did make a Gen 1 Lightning kit, be prepared to eBay some $$$ for that one though.
And now for a fox lesson, PAY ATTENTION EVERYBODY!!!
There were exactly 6 different fox TBird models and they are:
stock 1987-88 TBird Turbo Coupe
NHRA Pro-Stock 83-86 TBird (base model)
NHRA Pro-Stock 87-88 TBird (Turbo Coupe)
NASCAR 83-86 TBird (base model)
NASCAR 87-88 TBird (base model)
Pro Street 87-88 Turbo Coupe
And finally the other non-Mustang foxes:
84 Carpi RS Turbo
85 Lincoln Mark VII
85 Lincoln Mark VII Pro Street
84 SVO Mustang
86 SVO Mustang
Now that means, there are NO fox Cougar models at all. There are NO stock or TC style 83-86 Birds. There are NO non-TC 87-88's. Now, what can be scratchbuilt? It's "fairly" easy to take a 83-86 Pro Stock body and a 87-88 TC kit and make a 85-86 TC. There's a LOT of scratchbuilding involved and nobody makes aftermarket 10-holes anymore (and NO, no kit came with them). It's "fairly" easy to make a base/LX/Sport Bird out of the TC model using a 87-93 Mustang kit and a lot of patience and putty. Again, NO 10-holes. Yes, I have ALL of these kits and will post pics if requested. The Pro Stock and Pro Street kits fetch BIG $$$ and the NASCARS barely look like TBirds. Hope that answers everybodies questions.

All of those are Vinnietbird's stuff. Killer looking by the way
I saw some resin 10 holes a few months ago.I'll try to find them. They were big with the Mustang guys making cop cars.To build the 5.0,I'm using the engine from a 1/24 Mustang (Revell/Monogram),with the tranny and oil pan removed.I'm using an AOD from the Revell 32 Ford kit, along with the correct double sump oil pan from the same kit.It took about 4 hours, but the grille on my kit looks awesome. It took a LOT of measuring and then a lot of tiny holes were drilled, then the jewelers files did the rest.I sanded off the TC wording and started fabbing up my Bullitt gas lid.I already notched the rear bumper like my 1/1 car.I found the correct Good Year Eagles to use as well.I will have to re-do the seats.I want the front of the seats extended like mine, and I want the map pockets in the back of the seats to really be open. The taillights are going well.I had to smooth them out and get the detail just right along with a light tinting.Time and patience.
Hey Fila,I owe you one. Thanks a LOT.If you ever need me,I got your back. That's one of my favorite pics of my car.
Anytime , just ask
10-4 good buddy.
making progress, might have some pics by tonight or tomorrow
I know I said I was going to wait till it was finished but I couldnt wait, I wanted to see what you guys think :pbb:
So far so good.Keep the good work.
That's sweet!
And Vinnie, the Resin 10-holes were made back in 1987 (along with about 50 resin bodies of an 86 TC) by Replica's and Minitures Company of Maryland (RMCM). They stopped making the 10-holes in about 1998-99. They are EXTREMELY hard to find with the correct TBird centers though, those ONLY came with the 50 86 TC resin models.
this is one I'm working on in my spare time. its a 06 stang with a blown topfuel drag motor. its back halfed and it only took alittle work to get the motor in.
this one is for those of you who have sen the mid 90s movie Jade. this is a mockup of the thunderbird that David Caruso chased after it ran over the hooker. it started its life as a supercoupe and now is powered by a 4cam 4.6.
this is one of my favorites. stilll neds to be finished though. 4.6l cobra motor, irs, cobra wwheels and more.
Nice Mustang 4bangen.You do great work. The independent rear looks right at home.
4Bangen, NICE!!!
Graham, Yeah! Wake UP! ;)
Here's just a few of some of newer projects...i've got many many more in the basp00get packed away.
1969 Mach1
1939 Chevy Rod
1969 Shelby GT500
'41 Willys Coupe
This is a nice kit, i like it a lot...
'69 Vette
'62 Pontiac Catalina
maybe Mike Pinto needs to build one of these nice kits...since he doesn't seem to like most AMT kits..this sucker is nice.
pics DO NOT do this car justice! If IIRC, the wheels came from the '69 H/O Pontiac kit...i liked em better than stock steelies...give it more of a "retro-musclecar flair" anyway..i cant wait to get this one finished..it's a fine kit...i've had it for about 4 years...i cant stand to sit and work on any one kit...or else I get bored, and never touch it again.
1967 Impala SS427
This is the "custom" variation of this kit. i threw it together a year or so ago, havn't gotten very far with the rest of it. I've got another couple of these, just the standard kits...one of those is full-on, balls out "custom"...wild wheels, different engine, etc
And not to try to post w any more..but i realllly need to get a decent digital camera...Santa Clause..you reading this? LOL
Gonna borrow one tomorrow, and retake better shots of these.
The Willys, the Poncho, and the Vette look WAY better than pics let on. :beatyoass:
I looked at my list from last fall...i had 128 then, i've probably got around 150-170 now...i know the last 2 times i moved, i moved quite a few boxes of plastic back and forth. Feels strange, knowing I have more model cars than probably any 5 wal mart's in the state. :sorry:
'57 Vette
The wheels I think came from an AMT 70 Chevelle kit, the back tires are from some old NASCAR kit, and the rest is gonna be box-stock.
Gonna paint this one kinda of a "brandywine color with the scallop area white, saw one in a magazine a long time ago in a similar color and loved it. Oh yeah, that scoop is box-stock too.

I just started a '69 Daytona Charger.I have managed to get the doors and trunk hinged to open, and finally got the pop up headlights to function as they should. There's a big show down in Irving Texas that I'm building it for.I'll try to get pics up soon.
when is the show in Irving? I live like 20min north on I-35
I have one in the closet ready to be built! I did one of the Vette's years ago, but I wasn't impressed. In fact, the Catalina is one of the few AMT's worth building, it's actually my favorite kit they made. I just finished a 69 Road Runner HEMI but I've been too lazy to resize the pics. It came out AWESOME.
1969 Plymouth Road Runner HEMI
I built it from a 68 kit and alot of scratchbuilding (it's REALLY hard to get the real 69 kit). I found some pics of the 69 HEMI RR prototype, so that's what I built. (Grill, hood, and air cleaner from a 68, everything else (engine, exhaust, interior, taillights, wheels) is 69) Paint is of course, Hemi Orange. I oversprayed the chassis, built the coil, wired the distributor, made headrests, and added the T-handle in addition to all the changeover stuff.

Hey 4bangen,I BELIEVE it's March 4.On a Saturday.I'll be bringing my show cars for display only and a couple for competition.Hope to see you there. It's a good contest, nice cars there.I love to compete. They give away really nice plaques, and have door prizes ans rafles. Also, there are a lot of vendors.Again, hope to see you there.Look for an awesome Daytona Charger with the doors oped and the headlights up,and a '68 Corvette with all the bells and whistles. Those are mine.
is there a good model website?
Models look good guys. I have a 70 Tbird (real car) and would like to get a model. If any of you ever see one please let me know.
Go to scale auto forums.I've gone there since it started a few years.Lot's and lots and lots of good people with info, parts, tech, just like here.Kind of.
wow..that 'Runner looks better than some of the real ones did.
My dad had a '68, was a hi-pro 383/4 speed...he tol;d me one time that the only dodge to ever beat him was a Daytona with a hemi.
There's still a couple of old Mickey T's up in the garage rafters here that he had on it. Wish he'd kept it. Someday I'll build a tribute to it.
I've got the kit to make it out of, just waiting to find a same-scale 383 to start on.
could you give me the address to that site I tried to look it up to no avail. thanks and ill try to make it to the show.

Become a member and jump right in.There's a lot of cool stuff.I've been building models since I was about 5.Now I'm 39.There's also a Scale Auto magazine.I pick it up at Hasting's every now and then.
Anyone see this?
Red "X"
Yes. That's a plain-jane Revell-Monogram 83-86 stock car reboxed with no decals and sold at a ridiculous price. Just buy one of the normal 83-86 NASCAR models, it's the exact same thing. (As in yes, they both come from the same mold)
I'm about to start a new one well actualy an old one. you all will see soon. keep the pictures coming they are great.
'99 Lightning: gonna be built box stock, painted red, black interior. Looking for another to build custom
"custom" 1965 Mustang GT-350H
This is one I took the front subframe from a 69 Mach1 that i messed up, and used the engine and couple other minor pieces on this.
So basically it's a big-block '65 fastback, it looks lowered compared to my other '65 Stang's, but it isn't really. The reason I used the Mach1 stuff was to set the engine lower in the car so it would clear a stock hood. After unboxing this one, I've really got the urge to paint it bright red, and finish it. I kinda built it this way because I know I'll never have a chance to own the real-life version of such a car...
1969 Hurst/Olds 455
This was one of those pre-painted kits, but I couldn't pass it up.
I think it turned out decent, and yeah, the windshield needs glued in again...musta been a GM thing LOL
coupla more:
Well, all I have accomplished is getting the rear slightly narrowed on the Daytona I'm working on,and widening the front and rear tires.I wanted to keep red lines on it,but they are really skinny. Now they're not.Wide and wider for the car.I also widened a set of factory Mopar steelies for the tires and I will usethe dog dish hub caps for a really cool down to business look.
Sweet, Vinnie, I can't wait to see that when you get it done.
here it is worked 12 strait hours today to get it done.
more
Kinda makes you wonder if you can find one like that somewhere. Looks great.
last two.
had a lot of fun putting this together. I think I'm gona make a junkyard scene. so more will come soon.
paint was realy eassy used primer over blue. just about klled he dremel:).
Hey,I'll snap a few progress shots for you.Fila, will you post them for me?
Don't worry 4bangen, that'll buff right out.
lol you think?
nice models guys! Now i just picked up a 87 tc model. Now ive been thinking of doing a fila style on it. But im unsure of what colors the interior should be. I know the exterior is going to be a 2 tone with white and flat black. and im looking for some tips on how to do a blacked out style on the tail lights. or smoked. like the real tc. Now does anyone have tips on ow to do that also how to do water slide decals. Ive always hated them things. But i will post up pix of the finished thing next to my 92 cougar lowered and modded.
The taillights are REALLY easy. Flip them over to the backside and use a BLACK Sharpie to color everything but the 3 circles and the square reverse light area. Then paint the actual outside bottom strip stoplight red to match the reflectors. Add a little chrome on the Bird emblems and your done. They turn out REALLY nice doing it like this.
Decals, just follow the directions, use warm water, and be patient. New decals are FARRRR nicer and easier to use then those even from 4-5 years ago.
cool thanx mike! Now if i do a fila enspired(sp) paint on it would it look good to keep the interior gray? since the colors are gonna be flat black and possibly a perl white unless you know what color white the fila used.
The FILA's actually came in 4 different colors; (ALL FILA's have Red/Blue striping as well as Dark Charcoal lower paint) Black, Bright Canyon Red, Pastel Charcoal (that's the "White"), Silver Clearcoat Metallic. The interiors were all "Oxford White" which was just an entire Charcoal interior with Off-White front and rear seats. So I'd go with a Pearl White (To match the Pastel Charcoal) with no metallic in it, do a dark grey from the trim down (again, no metallic).
John, not that you havn't seen my car but if you need pics, just let me know
The ten holes can still be bought from Replicas and Mini of Maryland, or at least as of last year they could. He had photo-etched centers with Ford, T-bird, and smooth. I'd post pics of my stuff, but its all packed up and ready to goto the new house.
like i promised some progress pix of the tc.

Now here is the pant i have laying around Im still not sure what i want to paint it. But i have candy apple red, A pearl blue, And a perl black.Im unsure what would go better with the chrome wheeles.
Go red and black "under body" like mine it
I would go with the blue... but then again I am partial to blue.
Oh, and how old is this project??? (Pics say 99 lol)
its 3 days old. but my camera batteries had to be rcharged so when i put em back in i never reset the time on it oops lol. but idk how the blue would turn out on it with the black underside

I started with an old Pro-Stock model for this build. I used the Shotgun Ford Hemi and Lenco, but added the plug wires, Magneto, 18-71 blower and manifold, carbo injector hat, fuel injection nozzles, etc. Chassis bars have been "updated" to meet current NHRA specs (8.49). Street tires added to Weld Dragwheels, windshield wipers, mirrors, etc. Added nitrous system, fire extinguisher, gauges, etc, etc. Body has had custom headlight covers added, Motorsports wing from 87TC kit added, tinted windows, etc. The paint is a custom airbrushed "Fade" (Copper in the middle, to Med Red, to Metalflake Red on the sides). I have over 100 Hours in this project and it's a dedicated model-show car.
Some more.
Some more. The last pic is with the Pro-Street 89 LSC. I'll detail that one out for you guys later. Maybe 1 a week, I have 12 models, so this is #1.
nice mike. I just got mine in flat black paint. ive gotta do some more minor tweaks to the paint. fingerprints and runs:flame: But other than that she is almost done. also ive thought of the color change paint on it but idk yet. its still in the air on that.
Nice models guys!
I threw this '92 Cougar together over Saturday and Sunday in a total of about 10 hours. It's the first one I've built in a couple years. The stupid rear windows didn't fit at all so I had to use the windowmaker to make up with new ones but they look pretty py. I was going to paint the corners amber but liked the clear look better.

Never much for model cars but I used to build model aircraft quite a bit. Here are some of the WWII aircraft I've built.
Some fighters (a P51 and a P47).

Here's my TC. It needs some finishing... re-align the header panel, finish under the hood, get the exhaust to match up to the headers etc.

sweet!
NICE !!! Great work on that car. What shade of blue is that?I was going to use the Stang front suspension, but,I'm going for the best replica of my own car that I can do,so,T-Bird suspension.I have to figure out a way to make a Bullitt gas lid.I think an aluminum rod in a thin aluminum tubing may work.I've got some serious planning in my littl car.gain, that blue is great.Beautiful work.
Thanks guys!
The blue was a two stage deal. First I sprayed the car black. Once it dried, I sanded it a bit to make it smooth and sprayed it Boyd True Blue Pearl.
The blue by itself is fairly transparent so whatever you spray under it shows through. Through experimentation, I found putting a base black down first would give me a deep moonlight blue.
Yeah, I used the stang front suspension. I think my main reason was because I didn't feel like messing with figuring how to mount the motor and have it sit correctly.
Vinnie, you did an awesome job on that Sport header panel. I might have to buy another kit and try that out myself.
Actually my true goal is to somehow convert a TC kit to a Cougar and make a replica of my '88. I have all the parts I need including the motor and Turbines, but the conversion would be the difficult part.
Nice!!
The latest project..
1992-96 F-150, Saleen wheels, "custom" lowering :hick:, body kit.
A shot of the engine, less supercharger and belts accessories for the Ford truck, and a couple shots of the '98 Firebird I've had laying around for 3 years that I just painted. It's Testors sapphire blue metal flake, from a spray can and all in all, I think the paint turned out good on it..had gray primer under it.
All that's left on the blue Bird are decals, detailing and then clearcoating, paint the engine compartment black, and the final assembly. It'll be case-worthy if I don't botch the clear. :hick:
I suppose I can post pics of my Boss 429 and the 2000 Goodwrench Monet if y'all want to see it...?
PS. Thunderjet, is that the Memphis Belle B-17G? I've got a B-17F model, the variant that has the chin turret.
In fact, in the movie Memphis Belle, they couldn't find a flying-condition B-17G, so they took an F model, and removed the chin turret, and used it. The owner of that plane left it after the movie was filmed, or so I read.
I've also a P-47, a P-40, an F-18C Hornet and an F-15C Eagle. I get all my aircraft in the same scale, kinda of strange to see how large a modern fighter is compared to a WW2-era bomber...
So Ive been bussy lately. Heres some of my work.
a little info on the car:
1989 mustang gt body
twin 460ci big block fords punched out to 512ci each.
c6 trans, with custom bell housing.
removable one peace front clip.
mach1 wheels.
rear slicks.
and I am casting a pair of roots style blowers that will further hinder the drivers ability to see.
I've put a lot of resurch into this project. everything done is 100% acurate. I used 1960s dragsters as a referance for the motor mounts and transmission setup.
Let me know what you think so far.

Wow, both projects look great so far!
ive got a little 32 ford project going with a 2.3T ;)
here is what I got done last night, just a test fit as of now the blowers are not glued in place. I need to make a few minor adjustments, but for the most part its almost done.(the engine that is.)
I still need to mold the air breather that will go ontop of the carbs, and fill in the bottom of the carbs, make the outside headers, plumb it for fuel, run throttle cables, battery cables, hoses, accesories, belts, I need to make snouts for the blowers, and will proboly clean up the distributors. That and some detail paint and Ill be ready to start work on the car!

Nice work, that yellow will look nice with the blacked out hood.
Please show me this one, I would love to have one of these.
I used to be huge into building models. The last one I did was of my Thunderbird Sport a couple of years ago. I used the revell SC kit and bashed the 5.0 out of the 92 Cougar kit into it. I also filled in the "Thunderbird SC" on the rear bumper.

where can i find a very detailed model of my car? (87-88 tc)
e-bay probobly, wal-mart used to have them. I picked up a few of them when they where on clearance for $5 a peace.
ok so got bussy on this one this weekend, thanks to one hell of a hangover sunday morning, sitting inside, working on this while nurcing my hangover sounded like a good idea. so heres an update.
I got to looking at it and desided it needed to be longer to fit everything under the custom hood. So I added a bit to the front end, and streached the wheel base. Also got the hood together. still have a lot of work, but its coming along.

what are you using to make the rust pits?
Revell/Monogram released 3 different versions, all from the same mold. I sell all 3.
of the two plastic ones you offer, which, in your opinion, is the better of the two?
Three now, and each have their quirks.
If you're building box-stock or painting an anti-red color, get the Yellow Box (new) version. The White Box is the same but with no paint and improved decals and chrome.
The Original Red box ones are far superior plastic, but being molded in red makes other colors difficult. The chrome is either perfect or , never in-between. No decals but it has crisper details (from being a "younger" mold).
do you have any close up shots of each one completed?
a dremal with etching bits.
turned out really nice.
There is no discernible difference once completed unless you try painting a red one white. They come from the same mold.
The red ones came out in 1986 and so just by being first out of the mold they are "crisper". Of course this means they've also aged.
The Yellow/White box ones are molded in silver. Modern chroming is not up to the "luster" of the 80's stuff.
They're cheap. Buy one of each.
well my birthday is this sunday, maybe i'll tell the wife that this is what i want. lol.

I'm going to bump this for two reasons.
One, its getting cold out and I'll be building like crazy soon.
Two, did anyone see the resin 85-86 T-coupe and Mark 7 go on ebay a few weeks back? How does $124 for the T-bird and $200 for the Mark 7 sound???
I've been working on a 1/12 Camaro for about a year or so,of and on.It'll be awesome.Opening doors, etc.Give me a minute and I'll amaze you all with some sweet models I built..................

Vinnie..in one word: "awesome".
We gotta see more! :D
Thanks a lot.I'll post more tomorrow.......maybe.
Just bought it 2 weeks ago :D
I onle see a red "X".What is the picture of?
Ebay item #250172250424 $16.45
Well, I guess it's about time for me to chime into this thread.
I built several models when I was younger, but most of them were either set of fire and somebody would sit on them.
I have two left that will not be sat upon.
One is your basic '87-'88 Turbo Coupe model. I didn't do a very good job on it, so I'll post just one picture.
However, the other is one that I think you guys will really like. I bought this die-cast model of a Mustang Boss back in 1994 or 1995, when they were actually new. I then cut out the back seat and installed a battery pack (4 AA) and installed a basic low-voltage toggle switch in the trunk panel.
I then found some "wheat grain" bulbs with varying wattages - one pair I deemed worthy of headlights, the other were just dim enough to act as parking lights in the taillights.
I cracked the whole thing open and modified all of the lights to accept these bulbs behind the plastic lenses. I then made shields out of aluminum foil to keep the light inside the mock housings.
You can see in the pictures that some light is bleeding out, as the glue has dried out over the past 12 years and things fell apart.
I wanted to find a way to make the fog lights work, but I forgot about it.
On the brighter side (pun intended), I've had to replace the batteries only once in the past decade or so.
Whaddaya think?
Some more shots of the Mustang.
Hey,COOL idea with those lights.I was thinking of wiring up my 1/12 camaro, but everything would have to be well hiden since the car will be displayed with the doors, hood and trunk open.Nice TC.I'm working on one......sometimes.Nice work on the Stang as well.Good thinking.
Nice models guys. Vinny, look on your camera for a setting called Macro. This will allow you to get close to the model without the pic being out of focus or blurry.
I've got so many projects on my workbench right now, I don't know where to start. And, I'm trying to finish my model room while working on stuff.
Yea,I know.I had taken these over a year ago,and have since got a new camera.I'm good now.Thanks.
Nice models!
Resurrection time :hick:
Aerobird, I was wondering about the Revell Pro Street LSC kit.
I wanna build a replica of my 1:1 LSC, but that means I need a stock chassis to put the body on. Do you think a chassis from the Revell TC kit work? I noticed that the LSC kit is 1:25 and the TC kit is 1:24 scale. Will that make a lot of difference? If it does I probably won't mess with it. It's always frustrated me that Revell tooled up that body and never made a stock version
Thanks in advance :D
Remember,it's only plastic. If you take some time, you can adjust the T-Bird chassis to fit.I made a T-Bird chassis fit a '71 Plymouth satellite.Just takes time.
No need Vinnie!
Matt, they made a stock LSC kit ;) Be prepared to spend some $$$ for it though ($50-$100).
I have never seen a stock one. Do you have the model #? or pics would be super awesome. :hick:
NM I just found one. It was a resin transkit made by AAM (All American Models). Does it look like everything is there on this one? It looks like I'd need a Pro street LSC and a 5.0 Mustang to finish it.
http://cgi.ebay.com/RESIN-1989-LINCOLN-LSC-MARK-VII-ALL-AMERICAN-MODELS_W0QQitemZ120188871137QQihZ002QQcategoryZ145967QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a38/cb400f75/Mark%20vii/AAMLincolnMarkVIIconversion.jpg)
I just found, you beat me to the link lol
I agree that it looks like it'd need the other parts. Then again, I know nothing of the LSC kit..but I'd like one.
It just needs a Mustang kit for the engine, it comes with the body. It's a VERY nice kit too!
The last LSC went for over $200. The same time there was a 85-86 Turbo copue that went for $125.
Latest model! It's a 1978 Corvette with a C5 Corvette LS6/T56 swap (coughERICcough) and C5 Corvette seats. The kit is a reissue of an older one, so the detail is kind of "low" (molded in rear suspension, etc). I started this one on Thursday and finished it up last night for a nice weekend build!
Last pic. The paint is 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix "Galaxy Silver" (yes, that's the color ours is :hick: ), the interior is black with white seats.
The figure is a Warhammer 40K HQ unit for the Black Templar. I've been working on it off and on since my birthday. The thing is I got sick of my Testor's paint drying up, so I got all-new paints from Testor's Model Master Acryl line, they're all water based! So the figure is my "guinea pig" to test out the water-based paints. I used the same paints (except the silver spray) on the Corvette model.
And the reason for building the "quickie" Vette? This:
1962 Pontiac Catalina 421 Super Duty. AMT/Ertl's nicest kit ever. I built it 100% box stock in 62 Catalina Midnight Blue with the correct tri-tone interior. I've been working on this thing all winter (off and on) to try to build a semi-competitive model for the "box stock" class if I ever enter another model contest (I have a nasty habit of modifying and swapping parts in kits...)
Last 3. I highly recommend this kit. It's very accurate and fits together very nicely. If AMT/Ertl had stuck with this level of quality they'd still be around...
Sometimes, when it comes to HO scale slot cars, what you really want is something that can really haul ass. But you want something different and unique too.
Gentlemen, I give you More Wheels Than Brains Trucking Inc. :D
And sometimes you want to have something in stock form just because it looks nice but you want a really outrageous version to go with it:
And sometimes you just gotta go with what you love:
Love the slots man!
I just picked up some hard to find G-Plus and A/FX's (some F1 and Can-Am stuff ;) ). I'll post some pics up later.
That 62 Catalina is a sweet kit. Model Car Garage makes an awesome detail set for them. I haven't had time to work on anything in a long time. I've got to finish up my 06 Charger R/T I'm building like the one on "The Shield."
