I only have Camedia, the software that came with my camera so the editing in that last one isn't going to be the greatest...
Karl.
That is pure shaginess. Awesome.
, that was quick.
Thanks!
You don't even know how long I've been waiting for more pictures of this newest acquisition. I can't wait to show Ashlie these pictures. When I showed her the first pics of the limo, like me, she wasn't quite surprised. It's so you, man.
Wow dude, your enthusiasm is much appreciated. Thanks! :)
me like everyone else probably wonder whats on the inside. more pics please!!
Karl that is honestly some amazing pics. I've never seen a limo taken in such interesting angles and poses. You have a sweet fleet of cars and one hell of an eye for the camera.. I almost totally missed this thread.. Great work man!
It looks like your were going to put out a brouchure or something!
The limo looks awesome, but yes we need some interior shots... please.
Daniel
Research the rule of thirds...asshole.
Joking aside, that thing is gorgeous. I think i found a ride for prom ;)
So, were those taken in front of an upscale Gentelman's Club?:grinno:
Lookin real good!
Sweet:cool: . Where the hell did you find an old limo in that shape? Most of them are beat up by the time they are 2 years old. Wow I'm impressed.
Very nice pics and a schweet car!
Those are the only kind Karl goes to.
Thanks everyone for the compliments over the car and picture quality. It's cool to see other Fox people appreciating this non-Fox. Interior shots may come in a few weeks or so.
Michigan.
.
Do you know if it was originally titled to a private owner? Or a limo company? I'm guessing the former.
I don't know. 91K miles in a car like this is, to me, a lot for a private owner unless maybe it was some rich person who had a personal chauffeur or something. The guy I bought it from claimed that he bought it a few years ago from the original owner who bought it for his daughter's prom back in 1978.
The interior is in really good shape, almost too good for livery service. If it was in livery service, perhaps it was a brief period of time.
Has that car been in any movies? I caught that movie Galaxy Quest on tv a few days ago, and they have a limo in there that looks exactly like yours. Any idea how many of those were made?
If anyone has that movie on DVD, feel free to capture a frame and post it here.
I have no idea how many 78 Lincoln limos were made. There were only a few coach builders during that era that I know of. After looking at whatever I can on line, I think that the absolute max output back then was one unit per day. Assuming each one produced one limo per day, my guess would be 1,000 BUT that includes smaller stretches too. That number may be a little high, I really don't know.
Any plans for this one besides preservation?
Nothing major. I'm looking at refrigerators and flat screens now. I will also add my PS2, maybe a coffee bar. It has a TV and VCR built into a cabinet sort of thing but there is a lot of unused space.
I would like to just pull that "cabinet" out and replace it with an updated version. I just found a boat/RV interior fabricator on the Internet that is located in Maryland so I will see if they can do something for me with my input for a reasonable price. If not, then I will do it myself, it just won't look as nice.
Other than that, I will just fix the small stuff, clean and put a coat of rust prevention on the undercarriage, and roll like that.
So if you put all that stuff in there how ya ging to enjoy it if you have to drive it? :grinno:
Internet movie car database to the rescue!

I added a couple of more pictures to the first post.
Limousines are the only type of car I can think of where it is just as enjoyable, if not, more, to be a passenger than a driver. Most cars are enjoyed from the driver seat but since I'm always driving, I want my passengers to have equal, if not, more, enjoyment from the car than me. It will be the first car I have ever had where that is possible.
That doesn't make much sense. Hmm, ok, people for the most part always want to
drive a car to really enjoy it. Being a passenger is like being a kid and watching another kid play a video game when all you can do is watch. It's cool sort of but it would be really cool if he handed you the controller. Same with cars. It's cool to ride in them but really cool to get a chance behind the wheel.
To me, limos are a little different. My friends have all been asking, "so, when are you going to
give me a ride in it," as opposed to "so, when are you going to
let me drive it," which is what I got with the Miata and Tiburon. Hell, the Viper guy doesn't rent out to passengers, he rents out to
drivers.
Limos seem to be a type of car that people want to ride in instead of drive. So in contrast to the Viper guy, limo owners rent out to passengers.
I don't need to enjoy the PS2 in the back but if I'm back there playing, I will still enjoy the car as much. The first time I have owned a car where I am genuinely indifferent as to whether or not I drive. Every other car, I have to be the driver. So to answer your question, I would get the same enjoyment no matter where I was sitting.
Dude, thanks for going through all of that to post that frame here. 4thqtr, that limo is from the 80s :(
Those pics are awesome too. That thing looks immaculate! My Jealousy meter is near red lining.
So Karl, you are saying that whenever you go out, Debbie will be your Chauffer and you will ride in the back, right? You could even take it on vacation and sleep in it as opposed to a hotel room :giggle:
Really man, that thing is sweet. Can't wait to see the interior shots.
Thanks for all the compliments folks.
Debbie likes to sleep on long trips. That thing is so comfortable in the back, she has already slept in it three times driving around here looking for land.
Maxed out the first post so here is another one:

I think there is kind of a stigma behind being a paid limo driver. Kinda along the lines of a pee on.
Not saying your a Pee-On Karl.
What the heck is a "Pee-on"? Someone who dates R. Kelly?
Claude, you mean peon?
defined...
a. An unskilled laborer or farm worker of Latin America or the southwest United States.
b. Such a worker bound in servitude to a landlord creditor.
2. A menial worker; a drudge.
3. also (pyn) In India and other parts of South and Southeast Asia, a person of menial position, especially a messenger, servant, or foot soldier
I think Claudes trying to say that when most people think of a limo driver, they basically see them as unskilled people serving to their passengers for monetary gain. Just a bad stereotype.
This doesn't include you Karl, since you are doing it more-less for fun not trying to work.
I thought a pee-on was the opposite of a piss-off.
I disagree. I recently went on vacation and took a limo from the train station to the hotel and back. Both times, I think we had chauffeurs rather than just drivers, because they were helpful, courteous, and intelligent. Could have just been a fluke though.
In any case, Karl's limo needs some cool flatscreens and fiber optic lights on the inside. And a wet bar. (coffee bar?:wtf: )
I disagree as well, I was just trying to clarify what I thought Claude was trying to say. All the limo chauffers/drivers whatever you want to call them that I've come across have been great.
I'm sure that overall, they are looked down upon just like taxi drivers. Like I said it's a bad label or stereotype for them.

Oh man the interior is so cool. I like it a lot:cool:
Oooh. So classy. They just don't make limos like that anymore. Same goes for vintage hearses.
