Title: black chrome side moldings !!?!??!

hey i have a 87 cougar and i was wondering ...on the the black side molding trim does the center chrome piece come out???... i kno aerobird sells the kit but idk if thats to replace all of the chrome modeling or just the front and rear bumper cuz thats all that i was able to take off .... i tried takin the chrome strip off the model on the sides of the doors but it looks like its molded into the black trim piece. if any1 knows if this comes off let me kno.

Ed,

The side rubber molding pieces do NOT have removable pieces. I have a chrome "sticker" tape that will work if yours are bad (the same stuff the factory used), but if they aren't, all of the other trim pieces/bumpers have removable chrome.

You think that would lay down nicely for replacement chrome on the 83 86 cars??

The width's are different. The correct width one for the 83-86 cars is being custom made for me right now actually.

Mine was too, in fact, I don't think I've ever even seen a 83-86 that didn't look bad in that area.

Keep me posted as well some of the ones on my XR7 wouldn't hurt to be replaced..

My 87 XR7 Chrome Inlays --- They are ALL bad. If you can give me the name and number of the dealer that's selling you the chrome tape, it would be appreciated.

I see that you ARE the "Chrome Tape" Dealer.

If you could give me a price (Plus S&H) on a 60 foot roll of tape it would be appreciated. I need it for the side moldings on a 1987 Cougar XR7 - the chrome on there now is discolored and faded.

One other question - I assume this new tape lays directly over the old? Or do I somehow remove what is currently there?

Hahaha! I need to hire FILA to be my PR guy! :D

It's $29.95 for enought to do a whole 87-88 Bird/Cat, that stuff is already available.

That's why I pulled the chrome off mine ;)  Mine are just painted the same as the rest of the moulding.
