Title: '84 302 HO w/AOD trans For sale or trade
Post by: 88FoxBird on September 25, 2006, 07:01:08 PM
Ok I have a 302HO and AOD out of an 84 LTD that had the police pakage. Engine ran good when pulled and didnt smoke. Trans shifted good also. Right now the engine is just taking up space in the garage. Was planing on dropping it into the Ranger but have decided on a 2.3T instead. Looking for $200 but am open to offers. Also looking for a new 4cyl for the ranger too.

Nope this in fact is an 84 HO. It came out a an LTD with the police pakage. I know they're nowhere near EFI HOs, but I'm sure its better than the normal CFI of the same year.

I think the Mustangs were carbed then but I'm not sure. This is a CFI motor, and I did some checking and you could in fact get an '84 LTD with an HO.

The HO in 84 had the same 1-3-7 firing order that it's younger 5.0HO Fuelie brother had the SO had the old scholl 1-5-4 firing order.

As per chilton's all 1984 302's had 130 HP and 240 TQ.  All seem to have VIN code F.  Also all are rated at these numbers in the Chilton's manual whether 2 barrel, 4 barrel, or variable venturi.

You sure it's CFI and not a VV?  I'm curious due to the fact Chilton's has been wrong with specs before.  They don't list CFI as avilable in '84.

Was it a police LTD or and LTD LX? I know the LX had the HO/AOD, 175HP, same as mustang. Id love to own one.

Paul, it has a CFI unit on it and flat-tappet lifters. I dont know if the intake is original or not cause I just got told the same thing about the carbs. I can get a picture if you want.

bhazard, I'm pretty sure it was a police LTD, it had the spotlight, trac-loc, and all that good stuff. It liked to go sideways too.

EDIT-Heres some part numbers. CFI=E4ZE BA A 4E 08 and the intake manifold= RF-E2ZE-9425-CA

I'll take some pictures. Maybe trade stuff for the motor. I got some stuff laying around for a partial trade if you want.

Good news the engine is in fact an HO. Heres a link to an '85 LTD with the same engine.
