I'd probably report the first one as being fraudulent.

In reference to Baxo's post....an 87 with a square roof? :wtf:

Yeah.. 87 being the year the Tiffany was created.. probably didn't know anything about cougars so he assumed they used an 87

The Tiffanys were about 1-2 years behind the actual Cougar model years. So an '87 Tiffany looks like an '86. I think they even had '89 Tiffanys that looked like an '88. Whatever the conversion company sets for the model year of the completed car, that's the one the government cares about, not the manufacture date of the initial car shell.

Duesenberg Collector Car - A rare, classic German automobile.  Manufactured in 1984 for the U.S. market.  In 1984 only 50 were built with all power accessories.  Very good condition.  New 5L motor, automatic transmission, and air conditioning.  First time offered for sale.  Starting bid:  $50,000 U.S.  Last pre-war Duesenberg sold for $34 million.

Thats my favorite part of the entire add. Hes trying to make it sound as if the car was made by Duesenberg.

What can I say but "It's a duesy"... :D

I'd still pimp one tho...

If you gentlemen don't like the item you do not have to bid on it. I already received numerous offers in the 30k-40k range. Please don't bash my auction on your forum or I will have to take legal action.

This forum is international.. I know that the United States is starting to pass a law about not being able to harass people over the internet.. but I am from Canada. Legal Actions don't scare me.. for one.. But since you were polite and you said "Please" I will refrain from saying anything further about your auction..

However.. Please clarify which auction you're talking about.. there were two posted in this thread so that we can continue bashing the other. Thank You.

Sellers like that are why I no longer buy off eBay. Misleading even if it doesn't quite meet the US definition of fraud.

Exactly.. If the guy Larson1932 is talking about the Deusy claim then he shouldn't be taking legal actions against us, he's the one misleading people.

:rollin: He called us gentlemen.

I would have thought that us talking about it on this forum would be covered by the freedom of speech for those of us in the US.  Its not like we hacked his auction page.

And those of you not bound by this fine countries borders and legal restrictions...  please, continue the mockery.

(legal note: I never once bashed the car or the auction) :grinno:

Heh...where to start...
Quote

Which makes it sound as if a 1984 Duesenberg is being sold. That is 100% dead WRONG. It is a Tiffany Classic, not a Duesenberg. Where does a Deusy even come into this picture? It has nothing to do with a Tiffany at all.

Oh, I need to reiterate. Let me put it in a larger size:
WRONG.

Even larger...and with flair:
WRONG!!!

In 1984 only 50 were built with all power accessories. Very good condition. New 5L motor, automatic transmission, and air conditioning. First time offered for sale. Starting bid: $50,000 U.S. Last pre-war Duesenberg sold for $34 million.

Again, comparing the two. They're not even in the same class. Where exactly is this mystical link? Anyone?

Bueller?

So I find two misleading counts right away. This car is, by far, the highest-mileage Tiffany I've ever seen, and also the highest starting bid (when most Tiffanys go for between $20-30K us, the most expensive I've seen being in the $35K US neighborhood). There is as much correlation between a Duesenberg and a Tiffany as there is between the accepted value of a Tiffany and this Tiffany's starting value. So again I again state: crack smoker.

Trust us, pal...we're not going to bid. ;)

And for the record...had the rules of the board been read before signing up, you'd know that you are responsible for your own actions and words, and the last time I checked that was pretty much covered under the First Amendment.

Thanks for making my day though! This is thoroughly entertaining. :D

Dear Lord, Baxo, it's a good job you got to this before I did, else his ass would've been punted out the door faster than you can say "It's a Duesy" :D

One can only assume that if this larson feller was so concerned about people bashing his forum it must be being ridiculed on other forums. Perhaps Duesenberg forms?

Now, larson1932: I am an administrator on this site and I also own the web space it's hosted on. I don't take kindly to threats, no matter how ridiculous they are in nature. With that being said, in my opinion your car is as ridiculous as your claim that it's a Duesenberg (this is, of course, assuming that your auction is the one selling the Tiffany Cougar misrepresented as a Duesenberg, and based on your silly claims of being offered $30k for it I'd say it's a safe assumption *EDIT* Your eBay username matches your username here, so I guess I was right). In my opinion your asking price is retarded. Now call your lawyers and bring it on, bitch! Do us a favour, though, and record the phone call and post it here so we can all laugh when the lawyer tells you that there are no laws against talking mean about your car. Slander laws apply to people, not machines, and even then for it to be slander it has to be untrue. Everything said here is true.

And just let you try to misrepresent that pimpmobile as a Duesenberg in our for sale section, which is very likely why you joined this forum to begin with. Go on, try it.

Now I think I'll go over to eBay and report your auction as a fraud. Got any more hornet's nests you'd like to poke?

It's not even in perfect condition for 50 grand.. it's missing the 3 leather straps on the trunk that are evident in the auction that I linked to.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA, BEST JOKE EVER !

I wonder how many duesembergs came with a 5L engine....hey, wait,"New 5L engine", so the motor is not original.....WRONG, its not new, is another 80´s Engine, and let me get this straight, ITS 20 years old, capice ?its only a SO 5.0 V8, there are bazillons of them in the junkyard....

You wanna see a 50,000+ Car ? , yep, here it is...

That is a really limited production, not a car vandalized by a group of monkeys....

So, wake Up! your car is not worth 50,000, not even the half, and dont make the people think your car is a duesemberg....

34 MILLIONS, HAHAHAHAHAHA,Well, why do you are trying to sell in ebay ? maybe because Barret-Jackson laughed sooo hard when you said your reserve price was 50,000.....

Not to mention Baxo could delete his own fake account...

We have plenty of banned user names - I ban about three or four a week before they even post based on my mental spam filter :hick: Of course before I started personally approving new members sometimes they got a post or two in before I killed 'sm off...

I don't do shiznit like that here. I'm sure plenty of people would think I'm one of the top candidates for doing such things.. which is why I don't do it. :p
