Title: oil pan problem

well im trying to change the oil pan gasket gasket on my 88 bird 5.0. I got it dropped but I cant get it all the way out. I have twisted my elbow twice nw trying to get this thing out but I cant get it. I even jacked up the front of the engine still with no luck. Somebody help me out here please.

It's been a dozen years since I've done it, but IIRC you've got to remove the oil pump pickup tube (and maybe the pump itself). You have to do this by working in the space between the block and oil pan with a box-end wrench to undo the bolts, then let it fall into the pan

Si, also it has to come out the front. Personal suggestion as well, pick up an FRPP one piece gasket with a steel inner. It'll make your job that much easier in the end.
