It's not the amp I wanted, but we got it at a local music shop (I just used the Musicians Friend link to show the model. Always nice to support the mom-and-pop-type establishments whenever possible) and it's small enough to not be a huge burden on the upcoming trip. Planning on bringing the Strat and amp with me on the trip to practice. Slacked off the past couple days with all the going on, but before that I was trying to average at least half an hour a day on it. Hopefully I'll get back to that once the car is back together and my blood pressure goes down again. :p
Actually, I'd be using it right now instead of posting, but there's a thunderstorm in the area and I don't wanna blow it up the first day I have it. The PCs are on battery backup/surge protection.. but I'm out of outlets on those so I can only use a regular wall outlet for the amp right now.
Our local music store just burnt to the ground a week or so ago, bought my gf's christmas/b-day gifts there. Local businesses kick ass.
The little lady has a microcube(?) runns on 'AA' batteries, you can play when and where ever the hell you wanna, last a suprisingly long time on a set of batteries too.
I have that same amp, it does alright :]
It does better than my computer with cheap computer speakers.. but then again, I can't use the amp as a tuner.. heh.
We were looking for a portable headphone amp that you can put batteries in and just clip to your belt and play that way. They didn't have anything like that. This amp is a compromise between that portable and the Fender amp I wanted to get. So now I'll just use this one for awhile. For portable, I can always power it off a UPS or inverter.. :p
Sounds like you are looking for and old Sqwuak Box amps. I used to have one of those back the in 80's. Don't remeber the brand but you could even wear it on you belt with a clip.
Here's an example:

That is cool. The one I had you could use with headphones, but it also had a speaker on it. I think it ran on C or D batteries. I was much larger than the one you showed. I remeber seeing one like I had in the Movie Crossroads it has that kids from Karate Kid in it. I also had a peavey practice amp like that but and 80's model. Is worked great.
OoOoOo *adds to christmas list*
that sounds like the mustang, with the slipping tranny and chintzy stock speakers lol
