Post by: 85turbotbird on September 20, 2006, 06:54:48 PM
I've been hearing this strange motor clang/knock so to speak for a few days now.  I have no idea what the noise it, but I'm hoping your motor guru's can seriously help me out!!!  It has plenty of oil and is getting oil pressure, but I'm not sure if that info will help any.  Here are 2 clips of the noise it's making..hope you guys can help me out!

its hard to tell form the video, but its sounds like a tap youd find from the top end, its take off the valve cover and check the lash you have with your rocker arms, someting may have slowly worked its way loose to the point where it now taps

Gee, sounds just like mine.

Can't tell you where to look though.  Mine came, went away, and now is back.....I think I have some oil passageway clogged up as I swapped cam/followers, HLAs, etc and the noise was still there.

Perhaps an HLA is pumped up or not getting enough oil.

Yeah, that's top end knock. I'd bet you've wiped a cam lobe, a common problem in 2.3's

At times it's really low in sound then others it's really loud, like it was in the video!
