Title: Mig welders
Post by: andrew beedle on December 28, 2004, 01:17:40 AM
I have been looking into geting a welder for a reasonable price. I found this one http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=43025 (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=43025) at harborfrieght.  Does anyone have any opinions about Chicago Electric welders?  Thanks for your input

duty cycle of 16% at 155 amps, its junk, get a lincoln electric or ebay an older one with copper windings

I have one, and it is kind of junky, but with the mild use I have put it through it has worked fine.  Now that I know I do have the ability to weld I would get a lincoln next time.  Initially I didn't know anything about welding and picked up the cheap in case I couldn't use it well, or if it didn't do what I wanted.  If your not sure if your going to get much use out of it get the cheap one.  If you are going to be using it a lot get the real deal.  As always you get what you pay for.  Jason.
