In celebration of getting high speed internet back, I've just installed the latest version of vBulletin (which explains why you've been getting database errors for the past half hour). I also did this in an attempt to cure the speed problem the board has been having. The new version has some pretty nifty features.
Among the new features are:
"Multiple quote". See those quotation marks down and to the right of this post? All posts will have them, and if you click on that icon in several posts within a thread you can quote several posts at once.
When you quote a post now, it will have an icon that you can click on to bring you to the quoted post/thread
You can mark a thread "read" by simply clicking on the icon next to it. You can do this without refreshing the page if you're using current versions of Firefox or Explorer
Now, when you see the paper clip "attachment" icon next to a thread you can click on it to see a list of attachments and their sizes.
If you have "email notification of private messages" enabled the email will now include a preview of the message
This is a big one: Auto-Resize Oversized Image Attachments.
If a user attaches an image that has dimensions larger than the administrator allows, the image will automatically resized to fit (maximum filesize restrictions will still apply I assume).
There are another bunch of admin-related options that I have no clue what they mean, but the above new features should be useful. Enjoy :D
I'll also be adding a few humourous new smilies I've collected over the months. Gotta love having my highspeed back :headbang::cheers::ies::banana:
oooo... multi qoute. :D all my dreams have been answered!
That's some great stuff man!
Don't forget the nut and head kick I created for oldraven(http://205.251.38.200:8080/images/nutkickheadkick.gif)
Ahh yes, I had forgotten about that one. It's there now (along of a few more)
Great a little more confusp00get for me. Oh did you say auto resizing pic’s, nice that makes things easy. You know what would be cool is spell check cause I always bring this to my work to correct my horrendous spelling. And reading some of these posts some can use it.
Yeah, does it have that?
Its always had spell check - a browser plug in..
And I absolutely Love this.:pbb:
Thanks for all the work you guys put into the board!
Cool beans!
Thanks!
Any chance the "new" software messed up the clicky links?
In the Javascript drop-down menus, I'm getting the left side of the boxes snipped off, and with the farthest right option the box jumps a few pixels to the left as well. Is it you guys, or some program I recently installed (Canon camera suite, Quicktime, Opera v9).
Here's what I get:
.
I tested in Opera8, Firefox and Safari, all on a Mac, and that part looks fine (and believe me, if something was buggy it would show up on a Mac!) ;) It may be Opera9 doing that. I don't know why the Canon suite would mess with Javascript. It
could be Quicktime...although I don't see why it would require a Javascript update either. Strange.
Have you manually upgraded the Java component on the computer yet? Sometimes that helps get things looking correctly. You have to get it directly from Sun Microsystems now: http://www.java.com/en/
Okay, I just fired up Opera too (typing this in IE), and the drop-downs appear normal sized. The only difference is that in Opera, they just "pop" into view, and in IE they sort of "ooze" down or across, depending on the menu (always hated that). Must be something I installed or changed that only affects the Java IE is using.
A lot of times, Javascript will tie into ActiveX in IE. There's a script I use for websites that creates a nice JS slideshow. In IE, the photos fade into each other...in all other browsers it's an abrupt change. It is using ActiveX to make the fade. I'm thinking that may be why the menus behave differently across browsers.
Anyway...glad to hear you've got it under control. :)
Actually, it wasn't under control yet, but I did a "repair IE" in Windows' "Add/Remove Programs" section, and it's back to normal. I would have told you this morning, but the forum had started running like a slug again. 45 minutes to read 6 posts!
Wow, multi quote :shakeass:
