It should fit like a glove. The 'Bird and the Mark VII are the same in the front end, inner fender, front subframe area. Are you using the mounting "rods" that slip into the bracket that holds up the H-Pipe?If so,cut them off.I used my Mark VII H-Pipe with BBK shorties with absolutely no problems.I replaced it with an off road X-Pipe and stored the H-Pipe.There's got to be something that is keeping the pipe from mounting right.Check and see if the pipe ishiznitting something.Do you have a column shifter?

Where is it not reaching at?  Won't the H-pipe reach up to the headers?

The headers and tailpipes can support the H-Pipe.Mine did for years. There's something strange going on here. The Mustang aftermarket shorties are a direct replacement for the factory headers. What year was the Mark VII?Are you sure it was an H.O. car (LSC)?Is the H-Pipe hitting the shift linkage at all?Perhaps binding somewhere? If the hanger is causing the problem, cut them off,or at least the one on the side that is giving you trouble.

If it wasn't a HO car, it wouldn't have had an H pipe and dual exhaust would it?

yeah it was an LSC and it had an ho it was a 1990 . could it be cause of the motor mounts?? cause they are not original. what can i do and its not hitting the linkage.  im lost

Take a picture if you can, it might help us figure out your problem

As I stated,my Mark VII h-pipe bolted right up to the Mustang factory headers I was using, then right up to the BBK's I'm using now.Is it the hangers that are holding you back?
Oh,by the way SSX,good point about the exhaust.I had thought about that after I posted, but was too lazy to go back and edit.

did you separate both sides of the h-pipe before trying to attach them (loosly) to the headers? othrwise it can be nearly impossible to line them up.

Hey bud, as stated already, if the two hangers are holding you up then cut them off. They serve no real purpose other than to aggravate you. The headers and tail pipe section will hold it up no problem at all. Hope that helps...

Is the H-Pipe level?Meaning,is it turned towards one side more than the other? If the H-Pipe came off of a car with headers, then that tells you right there that it's not too short. It's either the headers,or you have it hitting somewhere,or twisted to one side.Cut the hangers off,and loosely fit it to the headers. If you have your smog equipment, perhaps you're bumping the tube to the exhaust,or the frame (tight on the passenger side),or,the shift linkage is in the way when you're trying to push the pipe up tp the header.Do you have a factory set of headers?Check the headers you are using to the OEM headers and check for length (size and shape will be a little different).

The factory h-pipe can't go on in two pieces,it's a one piece unit.

Just throwing this out there but you’re not trying to install it upside down. The air pump pipe should go to the pass/side. If you didn’t disconnect it.
Just trying to find your 2 inches.
