:banana:The roller 351W my brother promised me is now in my posession! Actually, the whole van (94 E-350 cargo van) is in my posession, parked next to my parts TC shell over at the cottage. It will definitely need a rebuild (400,000+ very hard KM) which may even end up as a stroker kit (depending on the condition of the bottom end - if I need a crank and pistons anyway, may as well go big ).
The van was sitting on the street in front of my brother's for a few months with no brakes, but he got a complaint from the city so he had to move it. He didn't want them to tow it because he wants some stuff from it (four new tires, new rad, full floating rear axle, steering box, shelving unit), and I get the engine and tranny (C6, apparently rare with the small block bell housing). The guy across the road from the cottage gets the body/frame for s metal. After, of course, my brother takes out about 6 years' worth of frustration with a sledgehammer :flame:
We're gonna start stripping the van in a few weeks, which should give me time to get an engine stand. I have no intention of using the C6 (gotta have my overdrive), so I may sell the thing to help fund the engine buildup. On a side note - anyone know if the C6 flywheel will bolt up to an AOD converter? I'm also wondering if the engine accessories and brackets will work in a Fox - the general layout is the same (alt and smog pump on right, A/C and P/S on left, tensioner at top right).
I was planning on a T5 swap, but now I'm gonna hold out for a Tremec. The T5 wouldn't likely live long behind a built 351 (I'm gunning for 350-400 horses. In know the AOD would be stressed too, but with a shift kit it'll likely last longer than a T5). I am so excited - after decades of wanting to do (and talking about doing) stuff to my car, I'm finally actually doing stuff to my car :D
it's all fun and at times can get fustrating putting it all together. but in the end all worth it. glad to here you got that engine. the small c6 is desired even though it does take alot of power away with all it's heavy parts but still good.
You and yer long posts! :p :p :p
Glad to hear ya have it. Ever since I got my own 351 home, I've been scheming to use it somehow. The mental bill for parts is growing rather long at this point.. :p
sweet!
390 stroker, 390 stroker (starts the chant:D )
You tell him, Tolstoy!:giggle:
Good luck Carm!
Teaching Alanis the real meaning of ironic, one post at a time.. :p
