i have a misfire like the car is slightly sputtering from 1000 - 2000 rpm only under light throttle .. if i stomp on it it sputs for a split second then shoots like arocket.. only and slight throttle between 1-2000 rpms any ideas.. i think my pugs are fouled and maybe i need a hotter plug any suggestions...
Clean IAC?
Otherwise plugs wires cap and rotor...
Maybe a vacuum hose has a cut or is split?
Just throwing some stuff out there.
I can't remember, is your car converted to mass air?
If so it's most likely the metal probes on the sensor that need to be cleaned.
what fred said..
i'd go for the ignition stuff
i think its my mass air meter....
Two days after your post, you probably already did this but just in case..
Remove the sensor from the housing. There are two delicate metal bars that take the reading that kind of look like two trapeze bars. They should be shiny metal but will look dull gray or black if they are dirty. Take a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and gently clean them. It works wonders.
My car gave me fits because of this for 3 months before I figured out what it was and how simple to fix.
After you've made sure the MAF is clean:
1.) Check your plugs.
2.) How old are your wires too?
3.) Your tps voltage at idle may be over 1 volt as well.
mine was a MAPsensor vaccum hose. car has never ran this good since ive had it.
it did the same thing plus idle surge and shifted hard and jumpy
ok gonna try the qtip thing.... i think that might be it... plugs might be fouled but i dunnno,,,, wires are nw and tps is new
Be very gentle while cleaning those MAF wires.
Run Codes
well i cleaned the mass air meter and got nothing ,,,, still does the same thing ,,, i think its the plugs what do you guys recomend should i have a hotter plug or something, i do have 24/lb injectors. gimme your opinions i have autolite double platinum ap25 in there now
I'm running 26's,I don't know if it will help you or not.
But if you take them out do a compression test,so you can eliminate a mechanical problem.Maybe to tight of valve, you will know more when you see the plugs. If ones fouled you will no pretty much witch cyl.might be giving you a problem, seems more like a small vac leak.possibly
Oh yeh did you run codes?
no codes yet didnt run
compression test is fine in all im gonna change to 26s and change my fuel filter and see what happens i dunno....
what engine r u runnin
I'm runnin an ho E303,1.7 scorpians,cobra intake,73 mair,70 tb,bbk shorts,2.5 duals,ported E-7's
Question for you what computer are you running for 24# injectors.
i believe the a9l but ill have to check that one
Like you said no codes,That should be first.
Get codes I'm sure you will get 1 or 2,at least.
Then we will have more info.
Puttin 24,s in,I do believe you need the cobra comp.
But what do I know,Ive been experiting for about 30 yrs.
ok so i just realized that i never updated this so here goes... i did end up changing my plugs to 26's a little hotter and man what a difference no more misfire no more sputter and i regained almost 60 more miles per tank on gas mileage.. thank everyone for your help!! :grinno:
