when I had the AC system upgraded and flushed/upgraded to the new non damaging cooling rs232(??) I has a nasty issue start.

It seems that when the 'professionals' I went to to have the system flushed and recharged *cough*jiffy-lube*cough*, they managed somehow to let the chemicals 'mix', this now has caused me no end of issues with my AC system, because as I've been told by a very good mechanic that those 2 chemicals mixing would turn the inside of my ac hoses to jelly.

of course the place i went tells be that it is Impossible for this to have happened and are taking no responsibility for their mistake. Basically I've been told i need to replace all hoses (which are not available on the market easily) and/or the compressors as well, etc to make sure that all mixed chemicals are removed or this will keep happening.

i have a 88 mercury cougar that has damaged trim rings (I hate parallel parking)
and i was trying to find some suitable replacements. has anyone found some
aftermarket ones that work with the 14" poly-cast road wheels, I was given some for Christmas made by coast to coast that were too deep for these particular wheels.

Misc Tech / Air Conditioning Woes

I currently have a issue with my air conditioning.

I have a 1985 Cougar with the 5.0

During the recent HOT hot days this summer I took my car to get the
AC recharged, IO was refused because the recharge equipment detected a leak in my system.

as i was about to take a long drive in 100 degree weather i took matters into my own hands and but and used a recharge kit from
autozone to at least get some cool air during my drive.

now, the problem i'm having is this, i am getting water leaking on the driver side near the gas pedal from (or near) the cooling/heating vents.

has anyone had this symptom and have suggestions of what i should look at first, the last thing i want is to go in and be charged
an inordinate ammount to find out the leak was easily fixed

After reading the woes of the heater cores, i am now not so sure if
that is my problem

In my 1985 cougar, i am getting water, leaking onto the driver
side floor when i'm doing hard right turns at speed (i.e. when pulling some g's)

usually on the freeway onramps, etc

the water is not antifreeze, so i'm not sure if its a leak from the window/wipers or the ac/heating system
