Engine Swapping / 1988 Tc "408"
Ha !  I am from dartmouth Mass.  I am an OLD drag racer, but have not been going except to see what my cars will do.  Then I change a few things then try again.
I have a 67 Cougar xr7 that is strictly cruise material.  (2:73) gears on a built 302 Looks and sounds good, but is SLOW.
A 1989 Marl Vii that I drive around tpen with, and this 408 beast to keep the kids wondering.

Engine Tech / 302 or 351?
It also depends on how stealth you wish to be.  The 351 will NOT fit under the stock hood without a hood scoop.

Engine Swapping / 1988 Tc "408"
I am almost done with this project.  I thought I would share 3 engine compartment pictures.  I can't take pictures of the whole car yet, as it is in a one car garage and I can't step back yet.  I will post completed pictures when I finish installing the Dash, interior and hood...  (Sigh)
Main items  AFR 185 heads
Comp cams 569/579 lift
TFS Street Heat intake
36# injectors

Electrical Tech / 88 TC Tach and Ac Compressor
I am trying to finish the swap from Turbo to "408" but have run into a couple of problems.  I cannot locate proper wiring that will allow AC compressor to cycle without inserting a toggle switch in line.
What did you guys do to remedy the Tach situation to allow it to work with eight cylinders instead of four?  I do not want to install an aftermarket tach.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Electrical Tech / Wiring Stock Tach
It's slow going as I only get 1 day per week to work on it.  The motor and transmission are installed with a complete magnaflow exhaust.  I am having some driveability problems(surging at idle) but I am checking the calibration on the mass air meter.  I was hping to use the stock hood and I bought a Roush hood scoop, but the TPS is still too high.  I will send pictures when it is completed.

Electrical Tech / Wiring Stock Tach
I am completing a turbo coupe to a "408" and wonder how you folks resolved the wiring of the stock tach to read correctly with an 8 cylinder engine?  I am running a MSD digital ignition.

User Rides / Similiar Ideas
I too am trying to complete my 88 TC 408.  I am using 69 windsor block, comp cams 569 - 579 roller stroker cam  Tfs Street heat intake,
all forged innards  tfs 185 heads with up graded springs, 42 lb injectors 255lph fuel pump AN 9 and an 8 lines and mallory fuel rails.
MSD digital ignition and Lentek AOD
It's not very pretty yet, but I will post some pics shortly.  By the way, even after careful measuring I screwed up on the height of the intake and had to buy a Rousch 1 1/2 hood scoop to clear the front of the intake.

Engine Tech / 88 tc to 408 exhaust question
I have just about completed build of 408 into 88 tc and I am seeking exhaust system advice.
I have shorty headers into a bbk x pipe now, but nothing else.
(haven't started the motor yet)  I checked into Stinger and they have 2 1/2 inch tailpipes with stainless tips but no flow tubes.
Any suggestions?
