Electrical Tech / temp/oil/fuel gauge not working
my ignition switch has been bad awhile and had to jiggle it to get the turn signals and heat to work so i figured that when i replaced it that my temp,oil, and fuel guages would work but they are not. anyideas what I need to do next to try and get them to work?

clip for switch had been hot and melted a bit

Drivetrain Tech / Limited slip rear end question
over the winter I had slid on snow and hit a guardrail. come to find out my trac-lok wasnt working, was only spinning one tire.

Well ended up my rearend was over full and just needed drained a bit and needed the anti slip additive as my brother didnt put it in when he changed it. fixed it right up.

Engine Tech / Low oil pressure?
My oil pressure on guage is fine when I first start it up. once it warms up it'll drop to nothing. When I'm doing 65 down the highway if I let off the gauge it'll gradually go up for a bit. other then that it wont come off low unless I rev it over 2k

should I trust the guage or no? just worried I might mess the car up (If not already)

Engine Tech / Rear main seal. Please help.
mine looked like rear main was leaking also, ended up being valve cover gaskets. even worse i tightened em up and they quit leaking.

Engine Tech / A Few 5.0 questions
what spark plugs should i consider using with accel coil and wires? it has e3's in it now but I think it's time to change plugs

My car gets 22 mpg when I use b-12 chemtool in the tank, it only gets 17 if I don't. this week I put gumout octane booster in it to see what mpg i get but don't know for a few more days. My questioin is with given information should i maybe run a higher octane gas or what? just not for sure why the b-12 is making such a difference.

I need to replace the axle dampers in my 88 t-bird, what is the best quality replacement for price and handling?

I think it had a little bit of issues with everything lol.

thx haystack for the link I will put it to great use next time, we had already done most of it previously. just hadnt checked codes cause i didnt have scanner handy but wasnt getting a light either.

did run codes cause cel hasnt been on at all, but via the pic do u think the pickup coil is bad? lol. so far it's running fine and even drove it a few miles and got it pretty hot to check. I had the new tfi that i had gotten checked and it was ok so ill keep it in the trunk cause i bought another one that was duralast just to be safe

I havent ran scanner for codes but cel isnt on. what name brand of tfi is safe to buy? the one I have on it now is masterpro and I don't trust it. heck if pickup was bad the mastercraft tfi that was on it may not have been bad.

So my car has been giving me issues. random dying off and cutting out. several times it wouldn't restart after it dies.

so started by replacing the ignition coil and that worked for about a week, then starter had went bad so replaced it,the fuel filter and tfi since i had seen in another thread that they will cause it to randomly die off.

well it ran ok for about 3 blocks and died again, brother was behind me so check that fuel pump was making noise and then checked and started after messing with coil wire, so ended up getting a set of accel spark plug wires. next day I leave to head to college and as soon as I go to hit the highway it dies on me. Starts back up fine but as I'm driving it starts cutting out. im doing 65-70 mph and rpms were dropping to half or almost nothing. I finally decide to turn around and as i do it dies and wont restart.

After a little bit it starts again and I limp it home, it seemed to be running ok though. Well after I got back and had my brother look at it it wasnt getting spark again. Decided the Masterpro (masterblow) coil looked like it was getting hot so decided to replace it again but with an accel one. Went to my afternoon class and it ran fine.

Well after class I go to start it, it fires right up but after running a couple minutes it dies. when i go to restart it. it seems like its spinning pretty fast and vibrating more then normal, but wont start. So went and ate dinner. When I get back it starts but dies again, wait a bit and it starts. So decided to go ahead and go. get a few blocks down the road and dies on me again.

So after looking a bit I ordered a distributor last night thinking it might be the pick up coil. also though the tfi I bought was masterpro, debating on replacing it also but idk what name brand to replace it with, heck the original mastercraft might have not even been bad but it looked old lol. Any help is greatly appreciated,sorry for the long story.

it looks pretty much how it did when my brother bought it 2 yrs ago minus i replaced the air shocks with stock shocks
