Im looking to do the infamous "HO upgrade" to my 1988 Thunderbird Sport and looking for someone in the area that knows what to do. Also in the process of gathering up parts and looking for these in particular:
H.O cam H.O Speed Density computer (DA-1 ECM) GT40 heads ( not GT40P) 19# injectors Explorer upper and lower intakes 65mm throttle body 65mm spacer 155lpb fuel pump 3:45 gears for a 7:5 rear or an 8"8 rear from a turbo coupe
Looking to replace my rear bumper cover that was recently damaged in an accident. Preferably in white but not mandatory. Also if you have the front as well that would be great (mine has cracks). Im located in CT so local pickup wouldnt be a problem...
Anyone know of any Foxbody mechanics in the NYC/Manhattan area ? I am literally getting ripped off by local shops and im looking for a private shop that is reasonable and actually knows these cars.
If anyone is parting out an '88 automatic tbird or cougar, i need the white plastic shift control rod that goes inside the shifter. Ive bought a few on ebay but they are always the wrong length or fit. Has to be from a tbird or cougar... Mine is broken so i cannot use the shift at the moment and it looks like sh*t.
Were you able to get the old broken piece out ? If so how did you do it ? Also how did you know the correct length of the piece so the shift fits correctly ?

I replaced my broken "string of beads" by cutting off a piece of an old toy hand held windmill on a plastic stick that my daughter wasn't using any more. You can probably buy one at Walmart or dollar store. Just cut the right length, lube it up and slide it in. The plastic handle on those windmills are tough and very flexible. Good for going through the s-shaped shifter tube. 3 years later still working mint!
Looking for the plastic shift rod that goes through the shifter. Apparently mine is worn out and no longer functioning properly. If anyone has one please PM me asap.
I can still shift the car manually by pressing the white rod down with my thumb, which is what I'm currently doing. WHy wouldn't the and button do this though ? Is the white rod not sticking up far enough ?
I have an 88 tbird Sport with AOD and a floor shifter. Apparently my shift stopped functioning correctly so I had to remove it which looks stupid now. I can shift with my thumb by manually pressing down on the white button that engages the shifter, but the itself will no longer do this. Is the linkage worn out or could it be the itself? How can this be fixed ?
