Ahhh yea see I would cheap out and find stock stang shorties :hick: lol. But at least widely available ones like BBK's are good, not like there's ONE brand/style of header and you have to hunt it down.
lol Thats what I am running now. Stock mustang shorties.
I just picked up a set of gt40p heads and explorer intake for mine. When I saw this post I was hoping to read they would work without cutting the pistons. lol
I've had GTO's and Firebirds but my favorite were always the Grand Prix. I had a 71 that was very cool, alot of 76 and 77's. I had a 77 with a 40 over 428, 400 trans, 323 gears that was mt DD. I used the air cond everyday. On street tires with a quadrajet it would run high 12's to low 13's.
You have to spend some bucks on the T5 or AOD but I think it's worth it. Now when you talk Pontiac thats my thing. It's all I ever raced or drove up till I bumped my head and went ford. Lol. The last one I had was a 76 GP SJ. The good part was it only cost me $500 to have the almost indestructible turbo 400 buit for it. Nunzi is great, So is Jim Hand.
I agree, I looked hard for what I wanted. I had been driving by the one I got for a year and never saw it. They moved a car that was parked in front of it and I stop the same day. The trans was bad but it ran good, had a good body, good interior and was a 5.0. He said he wanted $650 for it and I bought it on the spot. I din't even know it ran. lol. I built the aod, mild converter, put in 3.73s, mustang headers, x-pipe and turbos, used weld wheels that had very good tires on them. I have alot I want to do to it but VERY happy to be where I am with it. I only have $2500 in it now.
Why would anyone do that much work and go to that much trouble then not even mod the drivetrain? Nice car I guess but it would have to have some real horsepower under the hood.
I put the black one back on for now. I want a cowl hood and I thought I would put the money it would cost to paint the red one on a new one. I want to lower mine a little too just haven't got to it yet.
