I'm starting to gather parts to switch my 80 T-Bird drag car from a C-4 automatic to a manual trans. I have 87 turbo Coupe 5 speed parts car, anyone know if the under dash clutch/brake pedal mechanism will interchange? I know the 87 uses a hydraulic clutch with a master and slave cylinders, but I'd really like to use cable linkage, I have Lakewood safety bell housing for the cable system available and the cable would be a lot easier to use with my big tube headers. Can the 87 clutch pedal be modified or swapped to use a cable? Would I be better off finding the complete mechanism from a earlier turbo coupe with the cable, or maybe from a Fairmont/Zephyrs or even a foxbody Mustang? Any advice, opinions or ideas welcomed and Thanks!
Have to say you guys are scaring the hell out of me! I have a 2008 F250 5.4, 4 wheel drive with 40 some thousand miles. It has developed what sounds like an exhaust tick when first started then quiets down but comes back slightly when warm under load. After hearing all the horror stories of plugs in these engines, my first thought was a plug coming loose getting ready to blow out, but then I read about exhaust manifold bolts rusting away, blown manifold gaskets, cracked manifolds, ect. I did climb under it to take a look, although it's hard to get a good look cause the frame hides alot of the underside of the motor, all the manifold bolts look like they're still there, although rusty, pipes from manifolds to cats are very rusty, heat shields rusting away and falling off, but no visible holes. So what's your guys guess where the ticking is coming from? By the way I did buy the Ford extended warrenty before the factory one ran out, will Ford cover any of this?
I use the the truck to pull my enclosed trailer for my T-Bird drag car which I love working on as a hobby, I CAN'T STAND WORKING ON MY DALIY DRIVERS!!! Don't know how you guys do it, my hats off to you!
Very sorry about the T-Bird, looked like a great car, but glad you're both ok! When you get everything worked out with the insurance company and start stripping the car, I would be interested in a section of the right rear quarter panel before you haul off the remains.
Was 351 Cleveland with older SVO aluminum heads and matching intake, C-4 trans with high stall convertor and trans brake, 9-inch rear with 4.57 gears and spool. Best time was 10.43@ 128mph Building new motor 418 ci windsor based aluminum block with same Cleveland SVO heads. Should run in the nines
Yes I was, that was two years ago, was at the Memphis and Martin, Michigan events last year. Will be in the Joliet and Norwalk Pinks-All-Out this year, maybe I'll make the show this time!
