Mine was bad and I just popped the unit apart and the foam surround was bad. Used a rubber band of the same size and snapped it back together. Been working for several years that way. Hope this helps.
I pulled the chime module out several years ago and the foam rubber surround which holds tension on the speaker diaphragm was shot. Just cleaned the old foam rubber off and replaced it with a rubber band. Find one with the right diameter and thickness to lay where the foam rubber was and reassemble.
I would like to keep everything functional with the digital dash but would like to have a few more horses under the hood. Not sure I want the power if I have to sacrifice other standard features of the car.
Might need to see how much power I can tweak out of the SO. Although it doesn't sound to promising from what I have read on the forum.
Thanks for the info! Want to keep it as close to original as I can but I really need more power. A big change switching between my Lightning and the tbird. The tbird really is fun to drive and with a few more ponies would really be fun. The SO is still going strong even at 170K miles so I am not sure I want to start swapping out parts. All still original except for caster/camber plates. More power would be nice though!
Just wonder if the dash computer will still function properly if I do an engine swap from SO to HO in 85 30th anniversary Tbird? With new computer, wiring harness, etc. sounds like it might be a problem.
Thanks for the details! That is some good information. Sounds like I need to print this out a find a good axle shop to take a look at it. It doesn't sound like something I could do without special tools, etc.
Thanks for the replies! The clunk seems to be getting worse and I would like to at least reduce the jolt. I will look into it and post if any progress is made.
Just pulled the driveshaft to change ujoints and the clunk I have when letting off the gas is in the differential. The ujoints are fine. How hard is it to rebuild the differential?
My 85 5.0 had the same problem and it turned out to be the blower motor control which has a big heat sink on it and is installed in the fan blower housing. A trace had blown on the controller board which fed power to the low psi cutoff switch then to the a/c clutch. Not sure if the 87s have the same setup.
Good pics. Would like to get the map pockets and both rear window trim panels. Any idea if or when the armrests might be available? Would like to have those if possible.
How can I get with you for the details? I'm new here and not sure of the procedure. Look forward to working something out.
Yes it is a 30th anniversary model. The map pockets would be helpful. Are they in good shape? The underlying plastic which hold the shape and provides attachment to the door panels is cracked on the ones I have. This is true with the arm rests as well.
How about the small plastic cover clips that cover the hardware on the door pulls? I have lost one of those as well.
Also the rear side window interior plastic trim has faded and discolored. Do you have these and if so are they faded?
Thanks for the reply! Maybe we can work something out. Also, keep me in mind if your obligation for the arm rests falls through.
I can't get to you picture link. Anything special I need to do to get to it?
