User Rides / 87 Turbo Coupe Project (with pictures!)
The previous pictures are from when i was in pa. during 2005. These next pictures are in maryland 2006. This car is in good shape, but it did have some rust forming in some of the typical places...little did i know it was way worse then i thought in the lower strut towers. Here are some pics of how i fixed it!

User Rides / In the beginning...
Here are a couple pictures of the car from before i started with it! I started out with an 87 tcoupe with no top end, no turbo, no turbo hood, and no turbo coupe wheels...basically the guy i got it from was using it as a parts car. The plus side was it was dirt cheap and i didnt need any of that stuff anyway because i had tons of parts from my last tbird!

User Rides / 87 Turbo Coupe Project (with pictures!)
Hi everyone. Ive been to cat jam for the last 3 years now with out my car, and everytime ive said "hopefully next year the car will make it."

Im sure most of you dont give much thought to it if someone says this to you at a show. I mean, lets face it we live in a world where seeing is believing.

Well anyways, its been a long 3 years for me as far as this project is concerned. I started this project when i was living in a small apt. up in pa and have sinced moved to maryland and purchaced my first house (all while the car was nearly immoble... meaning no engine, wheels, rear, ect...). I tore it down in pa and had parts everwhere then had to basically put it back to gether to move it and then take it apart again. Oh, and did i mention i got the car from va!

So from va to pa to md its been crazy, but i finally got it on the road last oct.! Anyways, i know how it is with you all and pictures (im the same way) so let me get started!

Archive & Library (Read Only) / pin out/ wire color problems
Does anyone have any pictures of the  back of the tripminder with the harness plugged in.  Reason i ask is because my unit's plug doesnt match the pin order on the install directions.

Mine                                                  Install
pin 1 empty                                          empty
pin 2 black ( 2nd wiring going to pin 9)      empty
pin 3 drk green w/white stripe                  light blue/black
pin 4 empty                                          light blue/red
pin 5 white                                          light green/yellow
pin 6 light green w/yellow stripe (2 wires)  light blue/pink
pin 7 light blue w/pink stripe                    black
pin 8 light blue w/red stripe                      dark green/white
pin 9 black (coming from pin 2)                  black
pin 10 empty                                          n/a

I took this unit out of an '84 tbird,  but the wire colors dont totally match the colors in the wiring diagram for this year car either.

I wired it up according to the wire colors (even though the pin out doesnt match) but the unit doesnt work right.  I have to turn the key on, then unplug it and plug it back in to turn it on.  Then when i turn the key off and back on i get nothing until unplug and plug back in again.  Ive got some conflicting info here on wire color and location.  Any hints would be great...otherwise im going to have to take the wiring back apart and get the power inverter out so i can do some bench testing.

Electrical Tech / Tripminder problems
Ok, first off before everyone starts giving their two cents, let me give you a few details.

I have the tripminder installed, all the wires are in the right place, checked and double checked.  However when i turn my car on i get nothing.

I checked the tm before i installed it and it worked.  So my first thought after checking the wires, again, is bad connection.  I know that computers are delicate, but when there is a connection issue there arent many other options.  This being said i unplugged and replugged in the tm.  Low and behold it comes on.  Now is says "12:00 reset".  This isnt the problem though.

The problem is, when i turn the ignition switch off and back on the tm doesnt come on unless i unplug it and plug it back in again.

Any suggestions before i take it apart and start cleaning connections would be great.

Thanks a bunch!:birdsmily:

Body/Appearance/Interior / Door alignment issues!
Ok, turns out i just needed to step back from the project for a bit and come at it from a fresh perspective.  The doors are all lined up, next comes fenders, then bumper cover and header, then hood...then i can drive it...wooh whooo!  Thanks everyone!

Body/Appearance/Interior / Door alignment issues!
I got two replacement doors  ( old doors fell victem to the typical rust) for my 88 tcoupe project and have also replaced the striker and the hinge pins and bushings.  Ok, here is my problem.  I cant seem to get the doors lined up.  I have two problems at least.

One. If i set the striker so that the door is flush with the body when closed, the door is not tight.  In other words, i can push the door closed further, almost 1/4"!  Needless to say if i adjust the striker to latch the door closed tightly, the door is no longer flush with the body.  Is this because my door weather stripping is saged out?

Two.  I adjusted the striker vertically so that when closed the door is gapped properly with the rocker.  However when i open the door it drops about 1/4".  Enough for the top corner part of the door to contact the door jam.  Ive tried adjusting the hinges, but im not getting anywhere with it.  This adjustment has been frustrating me to no end.

Im sure ive seen a how to on doors on here before, but i cant seem to find it anywhere.  Right now im open to any suggestions.  Thanks a bunch everyone!:birdsmily:

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / 14" 8 hole wheels w/center caps
Hi, i got a set of decent 14" 8 hole wheels for sale.  I can get about $10 a peice for them as s.  I hate to get rid of them because they are in ok shape (not all chewed up on the edge).  They would need to be bead blasted and powercoated to look new again (clear coat is pealing).  Ill take $60 for the set with the center caps.

Im located in silver spring md.  Im too lazy for packaging these so local pick up only.

Email me for details.  tbird88tbo@hotmail.com

Suspension/Steering / Rear Spring Rates
Hi everyone.  Im trying to find out what a good spring rate would be for rear coilovers.  I wont be taking the car to the track much so i dont need it to be super stiff, but i still want a firm ride.  I guess what im looking for is between normal street use and track use.  Any suggestions, calculations, info, ect... would be great!

Thanks!:birdsmily:
