I am currently involved in a project of stripping down a car. The paint on this car is terrible and I was wondering if anybody had a quicker way of sanding a car. I am currently using those sand pads that you can buy at Wal-Mart or auto parts stores that stick to any normal drill. They start off well then exponentially faid off and are worthless in about 10 minutes or after about a foot by foot area. Any ideas would be awesome. Thanks
My 87 Cougar is having a little difficulty. When I start it up and after it warms up for a little while the car will idle at a very low speed. Then often times it will go ahead and just die. Would this indicate a bad speed sensor? Also as a side not when this happens the voltage goes down as well.
Thanks jcassity, I wish I knew this information before I took the pump ahead off of the car...but we will see how it goes. The fuel pump has never been changed on the car so yeah... we will see...Thanks though!!
Ok, we tested the pressure and it was 0!! So we went ahead and took the fuel pump off and when we took the lines off the pump there was no pressure built up. So we will go ahead and change that tonight.
Well we are going to check the codes sometime, but my dad is pretty sure it is the fuel pump. So we are changing that tonight and we will see how that goes.
The car tries to start but won't, and if it does it dies. We cut off the catalytic converter since it turned bright orange but still didn't start with out it. We think it may be off on its timing, if the timing chain has came loose? Also it kind of acts like it isn't getting fuel, but we have a new fuel filter on there, could it be the fuel pump? What do you guys think?
Ok, so my dad thinks that I have a partially plugged fuel filter. The car when idling now will die most of the time. Especially at traffic lights and what not, so I have to start er back up once or twice. It runs alright every now and then maybe due to the fact that the sediment or whatever is clearing out. What do you guys thing?
Ok here is the deal. My 87 Cougar when I start it up displays the service light and sometimes sounds normal and other times the choke won't kick off. Then on top of that when I go to stop at a stop sign or traffic light, the car still wants to jump forward and get going. Does anybody know what the problem here is? I checked all the vacuum hoses and they all look fine? Ideas?
I noticed a few days ago that my automatic antenna won't go down all the way. It gets to the last little section and stops. So I was wondering if it is alright to push it down manually or should I not worry about it or maybe even try to fix it?
